Kelly Rohrbach may be stepping into a snug red swimsuit as one of the 1990s' most iconic TV characters, but she reckons she is more than up to the challenge.

The 26-year-old blonde beauty has been filming the upcoming tongue-in-cheek silver screen reboot of the famous Baywatch series, where she will be taking on the role of C.J. Parker, famously played originally by Pamela Anderson.

The actress is also the latest cover star for V Magazine, giving the publication the scoop on just how she is turning the role into her very own, modern version.

Going big: The blonde beauty is starring in the upcoming reboot of '90s TV classic Baywatch

'I didn't want to just be a wax figure hot girl,' she said. 'I sort of made her anti-perfect. Goofy, fun, and awkward at moments.'

Kelly has apparently been a fan of the character, which was played by Pamela Anderson from 1992 to 1997, since she was a little girl, having sneakily watched the 'risque' series with her sister when their parents weren't around.

She also revealed in the interview just how she rocketed to fame after arriving in Los Angeles, Googling top talent agencies and being signed upon her first meeting.

She then took up modeling and, in one of the most incredible rocket-to-the-top stories in recent memory, booked her very first modeling gig as a part of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.

Her profile was raised even further when she began seeing actor Leonardo DiCaprio - the pair split earlier this year after months of dating.

The spotlight led to her eventual casting in the new Baywatch, which wrapped shooting in May, but recently had her back in the iconic red swimsuit for reshoots last week.

She was spotted in Los Angeles on Sunday being knocked to the ground by a volleyball player for one of the scenes.

Back in May the film's star Dwayne Johnson shared a snap on Instagram, and claimed the film will be a beach-filled version of The Avengers.

He said: 'That's an official wrap! Holy s*** we had a blast pushing the rated R envelope.

'Hilarious, bad ass and highly dysfunctional "Avenger's of the beach" come home.'

Baywatch is being produced by The Rock, who plays the lead lifeguard Mitch Buchannon.

Meanwhile Zac Efron is taking on the role of David Charvet's Matt Brody and Priyanka Chopra has landed the part of the villainous Victoria Leeds.

The Rock previously revealed original Baywatch star David Hasselhof will make a cameo in the new film.

Pamela Anderson has also officially joined the cast as well.
