Mariah Carey 'asked Nick Cannon to hurriedly sign divorce papers so she could marry now-ex-boyfriend James Packer'

Mariah Carey wanted to wed billionaire James Packer so bad, she asked ex-husband Nick Cannon to hurriedly sign off on their divorce papers to expedite the process.

The 46-year-old's engagement with the Australian business magnate was called off following a fierce fight in September.

Just before the breakup, the Obsessed singer dialed up Cannon and told him, 'I want you to sign the divorce papers [because] I really want to get married to James Packer,' an insider told the New York Post Wednesday.

The divorce process between Carey and Cannon, who are parents to five-year-old twins Monroe and Morrocan, 'was dragging on and on, mainly because of the back and forth between their lawyers' when the veteran songstress personally intervened.

She reportedly recruited Los Angeles lawyer Laura Wasser to streamline the process, before personally calling Cannon to explain the urgency of the situation.

'Mariah called Nick and said, "I really want to get married. Will you sign these papers?"' a source told the outlet. 'Nick was cool and said, "I’m not going to stand in your way. I’ll sign the papers.’'

Cannon 'signed in September, because Mariah and James wanted to get married in early 2017,' the source said.

The effort was all for naught, as the relationship between the Vision Of Love singer and Packer ended soon thereafter after a major fight.

The Someday singer previously blamed the relationship's end on a major change in his attitude, the paper reported, noting that she felt Packer's business manager Tommy Davis had a negative impact on their high-profile romance.

Things had been getting very serious between the Huntington, New York native and Sydney-based executive, as they had even earmarked a March 1 wedding date in Bora Bora and had their respective legal trams hammering out a prenuptial agreement.

Packer, irritated with the sluggish pace at which the was being composed at amid multiple complications, fired off an email at his staff ordering them to expedite the prenup process, TMZ reported.

'The people who work for me . . . do as I say or f - - k off. I want to get married on March 1.'

The Glitter star has since been passing the time with Bryan Tanaka, 33, one of her backup dancers.

The Emotions singer was twice previously wed: to music industry exec Tommy Mottola from 1993 until 1998, and to the America's Got Talent host from 2008 until their August 2014 separation.
