Cuba Gooding Jr's character meets grisly end at hands of Piggy Man on American Horror Story: Roanoke

The American Horror Story: Roanoke bloodbath continued on Wednesday night as four more characters met sticky ends.

While Shelby, played by Lily Rabe, brutally slashed her own throat to take her life, Cuba Gooding Jr's Dominic Banks was killed by the pig-headed man.

Audrey (Sarah Paulson) and Lee (Adina Porter) managed to overcome their Polk captors, ending the lives of Mama Polk and her son Jether.

Monet meanwhile, played by Angela Bassett, found herself on the run in the woods with the remaining Polks in hot pursuit.

The eighth chapter of AHS: Roanoke began with Dominic and Shelby trying to escape through the tunnel under the house, but the duo quickly found themselves chased back inside by the family who died there.

Complete with some Blair Witch-style camera work, the pair frantically ran through the house, but Shelby seemed dubious about their chances of survival.

When Dominic insisted 'We're going to get out. You've done it before', she told him 'There is no escape'.

'There's so much out there waiting for us,' Dominic encouraged. 'I'm going to get my spin-off. You're going to get your yoga studio. But we have to stick together.'

'You're a really good actor,' Shelby said.

Trapped in the kitchen, the pig headed man stabbed Shelby and the chandelier crashed to the floor, landing on her, as the tried to escape.

After locking themselves in the bathroom, Dominic begged: 'Stay with me.'

But Shelby, referring to Matt's death, said: 'I killed the only man I've ever loved. I took his life with my own hands. There's no place left for me.'

After taking a few strained breaths she slashed her own throat to commit suicide.

Over at the Polk farm, Mama Polk and son Jether began butchering Lee.

'Which part of it tastes the best?' asked Mama, played by Robin Weigert.

'I don't remember, Mama,' Finn Wittrock's Jether replied.

'You just take this knife here and you cut your Mama some nice filet,' she asked.

When Lee begged the mother and son to stop, telling them that 'people don't eat people', they told her: 'If you ain't Polk, you ain't people.'

Explaining that their family started their cannibalistic ways during the 1929 Great Depression when they caught thieves stealing from their land, Mama said: 'Our family was never going to go hungry again and that's when we had our feast.'

Licking her lips in a way that would make Hannibal Lecter shiver, she added: 'We found our power and our place. We knew then…'

'The Polks weren't like any other,' Jether finished.

While Mama was absent, Lee began working on Jether, offering to help him get a part in a TV show and then asking him to help her record a message for her daughter Flora.

While his video camera was rolling, she said: 'Baby girl, if by chance you see this, the first thing you have to know is I love you. I always will.

'You've heard many things about me this past year so I want to tell you the truth. I killed daddy. That's on me and me alone. No one else helped me. It's nobody's fault except mine. He was going to take you away from me and I couldn't see my life going forward that way.'

When asked whether he planned to 'bust' his cherry and kill her, Jether confessed to Lee that he did not want to hurt her, told her he liked her and she seized her chance to escape.

As the pair got closer, she encouraged him to touch her and he furiously undid her restraints, but just as their lips were about to meet she lifted her knee hard into his body and grabbed him in a headlock.

After Jether fell to the floor, struggling to breathe, Lee unfastened her leg restraints, grabbed a knife and plunged it into the side of the boy's head to kill him.

On the other side of the farm the other Polk men threatened to remove Audrey and Monet's teeth to add to their collection.

But as they tried to remove Monet's teeth their pliers broke and so did her chair. While the younger Polk left to get new pliers she hit the older one with the broken part of the chair.

After failing to undo Audrey's restraints she fled and promised 'I'll come back' before running out of the door.

Mama Polk soon appeared, sent her sons to find Monet and forced Audrey to open her mouth so she could wrench out one of her teeth.

As she prepared to go back for more, Lee appeared, mimicked the sound of her son's voice with the words 'hey Mama' and hit her in the face when she turned around.

After Lee set a sobbing Audrey free from the chair, Audrey furiously kicked Mama Polk while she lay on the floor before crushing her skull with a hammer.

'F*** you, you f***ing butcher,' she screamed.

When Lee and Audrey returned to the house they found Matt, Lee's brother, dead on the floor and Shelby's blood-covered body on the bathroom floor.

Dominic, sitting in the corner of the room, asked if they had found Sidney, unaware that he was dead, before telling them that it was Shelby who killed Matt.

Lee raged: 'You expect us to believe that s*** when you're the one holding the knife? You f***ing liar. Shelby would never kill Matt. She loved him. She came here to get back with him.'

Audrey added: 'Shelby would never kill herself. She's way too self-centered to commit suicide. I've played her for six months. I know her better than I know myself.'

The furious pair locked Dominic outside in the corridor and moments later he was killed by the pig-headed man.

The following morning Audrey and Lee reluctantly agreed they must return to the Polk farm to retrieve the taped footage showing them committing murder.

But they episode ended when they opened the door to the house and came face to face with a man in a pig mask.

'Gillian?' a stunned Audrey asked as the man, played by West Bentley, pulled the mask off his head and the episode came to a close.
