Working nine to five never looked better! Dolly Parton, 70, looks remarkably line-free... four decades after her heyday

She was there to collect a Lifetime Achievement Award, but it was hard to believe that Dolly Parton had been in the business for 40 years.

But working nine to five seems to have done wonders for the 70-year-old, who attended the Country Music Awards in Tennessee on Wednesday night, looking ageless.

Wearing a full-length canary yellow sheer gown, the pneumatic performer's appearance was remarkably unchanged from when she walked the red carpet in 1975, over 40 years ago.

Where have the years gone? Dolly Parton (left, on Wednesday night) looked remarkably ageless when she appeared at the Country Music Awards, over 40 years after her hey-day (right, in the 1970s)

An onlooker said: ‘Dolly has aged miraculously. Whatever her secret, it works.’

The Jolene singer has previously admitted to having Botox.

She recently said: ‘I think if you’ve got the nerve, you got the desire and you got the money, then you should do it if that’s gonna make you feel better...

‘I’m not out promoting it. I probably never would have told if I hadn’t got caught at it, but I wasn’t gonna lie about it when I did.

‘I just go with it. If I see something that’s bothering me, since I have to be in front of the camera and I want to look good, I just go do it.’

No matter who was going to be the big winner, it was always going to be Dolly's night: The country music icon was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award on Wednesday at the CMA Awards

Watched by some of today’s biggest stars, including Beyonce and Taylor Swift, she stole the show onstage at the 50th annual Country Music Awards in Nashville.

Female singers from a younger generation of country music – including Carrie Underwood and Kacey Musgraves - performed hits by this icon of the genre before Parton received the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award.

The 100million-selling Tennessee-born singer, who has been married for 50 years, quipped ‘I would cry, but I didn’t want to mess up my eyelashes’, describing the honour as ‘an absolute high’.

Dolly quipped onstage: 'This is an absolute high for me.'

Also apparently defying the ageing process at the ceremony were Hollywood star Nicole Kidman and her musician husband Keith Urban, who was nominated in categories including entertainer of the year.

The couple, both 49, attracted comment for their smooth, wrinkle-free foreheads, with Kidman towering over her husband in her high heels.

But the spotlight was commanded by Beyonce who was accompanied by the Dixie Chicks to deliver a performance Daddy Lessons.

Wearing a glittering, beaded gown, she brought the A-list audience to its feet with the country-blues track from her newest album Lemonade, joined by a bevy of on-stage musicians.
