She recently admitting to having a tough year following her split with boyfriend Andrew Garfield, but Emma Stone was still in high spirits as she made a stunning entrance at the launch of critically acclaimed new movie La La Land.

The American actress, 27, looked typically glamorous in a sweeping Chanel dress during an official presentation of the musical homage to Hollywood’s golden era at the 39th annual Denver Film Festival on Wednesday evening.

With a cinched waistline, the heavily embellished design drew attention to her slender physique as she posed for photos after arriving at Ellie Caulkins Opera House ahead of an initial screening.

A nude underlay protected the star’s modesty, while its sleeveless detail exposed her arms as she warmly greeted fans outside the sprawling Colorado venue. 

Ensuring her outfit took centre stage Emma pared back the accessories by opting for a combination of stud and sleeper earrings. 

The actress gave an otherwise muted colour scheme a splash of vibrancy by sporting a generous layer of blood red lipstick, while her ginger hair was neatly styled with a simple side parting.

On a chilly night Emma soon covered up in a studded leather jacket before taking to the stage, where she fielded questions during a brief Q&A. 

Joined by La La Land director Damien Chazelle at the event, the star was later honoured with the Denver Film Festival Award by festival organiser Britta Erickson.

Reflecting on her split with Garfield last October, Emma told Vogue that the ensuing year has had its 'ups and downs.' 

'It’s been a good year. And sad,' she admitted. 'Pros and cons.'

The actress also spoke of reuniting with co-star Ryan Gosling in La La Land after previously sharing screen time with the leading man in Crazy, Stupid, Love and Gangster Squad. 

'It was nice to be friends with the person you’re doing all this crazy stuff with—learning to ballroom dance or sing duets live,' she said. 

La La Land is released in the United States on October 6 and across the United Kingdom on January 13.
