‘There's an idea Hollywood is where you should want to be, but I'm like, ''Why?'': Claire Foy admits she's not bothered by the glam LA lifestyle... as she prepares for lead role in The Crown

She is set to play Queen Elizabeth II in the highly anticipated Netflix series The Crown, released on Friday.

But Claire Foy has revealed that despite her new starring role, she has no overriding desire to move from the UK and hit Hollywood to further her acting career.

Talking to Marie Claire, the 32-year-old actress admitted that while a life in LA would be 'exciting', she is not desperate to 'go out there at all costs' unlike many other budding screen stars.

True to her roots: Claire Foy, 32, speaks candidly to Marie Claire in their December issue about life in Hollywood as an actress and the research behind her new role in The Crown

The British beauty has made her fame in BBC TV series' such as Little Dorrit, Upstairs Downstairs and Wolf Hall, and admitted that she is happy enough for the moment based in the UK, in both her personal and professional life.

She explained to the magazine: ‘There is an idea that that’s where you should want to be, and I’m a bit like, “Well, why?” I don’t think the pinnacle of your career is just getting bigger and bigger.

Dismissing the pressures put upon actors to go to Hollywood in order to find fame, she continued: 'There are lots of actors who do really good stuff and enjoy it, and are able to do it without having to sacrifice a huge part of their [lives].

Stunning: Claire admitted that she is happy in the UK rather than LA, explaining that there are many actors who 'work without having to sacrifice a huge part of their [lives]' by moving

'The idea of moving to America would be exciting but I’m not like, “I will go out there at all costs.”’

It is arguable that Claire does not need the assistance of LA however, having scored many coveted and challenging parts off her own back.

Most notably the Manchester native is set to start in new Netflix series The Crown, alongside Doctor Who star and fellow Brit Matt Smith.

Set against the backdrop of a Great Britain still recovering from the aftermath of World War II, the 10 part series follows a young Queen Elizabeth (Foy) facing enormous responsibilities to Crown and country.

But while she addresses the bigger picture, an alarmed husband Prince Philip (Smith) insists she remains focused on her family.

Claire further explained to the magazine that the role involved huge amounts of research, in order to make her portrayal of the beloved Queen as realistic and authentic as possible.

Talking of the royal's long-standing marriage to Prince Philip, the Lady in The Van star said: 'She wanted to be his wife, to follow him around and support him in his career and that’s what they thought they were going to do for 20, 30 years.

'But a few years later [when King George VI died] to be told, “You can’t live where you want to live, you can’t have your own name, you can’t do what you want to do any more, you have to do this.” It’s completely suffocating.’

Dynamic duo: Claire stars alongside Doctor Who star Matt Smith in the drama, who she admits had the most 'interesting' role to play

However while she admits that she feels Matt Smith's role was the 'most interesting' to create, she added that the relationship between the two characters amidst the trials and tribulations of war-torn London is what makes the series so emotive.

She said: 'It’s heartbreaking where [the story] goes, because you’re watching these two people have a relationship in public, but also the decisions they make [that] affect their marriage.’

Billed as the 'the inside story of two of the most famous addresses in the world – Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street', the drama promises a look at the intrigue, love lives and machinations behind the most notable events.

Clearly not holding back on this task, a reported £100million has been ploughed into the show - making it the most expensive drama ever made by the US streaming company and its first to be made in the UK, according to The Telegraph.

With her career only going from strength to strength, Claire has also just wrapped filming on a blockbuster movie, alongside Andrew Garfield and Andy Serkis.

Entitled Breathe, the heart-warming flick follows an adventurous man called Robin, whose life takes a dramatic turn when he is left paralysed by polio.
