Duchess of Cornwall's biographer reveals what Camilla got up to in the Sixties

From femme fatale to distinguished royal consort, life's journey for the Duchess of Cornwall has never been anything less than long and bumpy, writes CHRISTOPHER WILSON. With former flame Rupert Hambro (centre), the unwritten rule of the Season was 'good girls don't'. Camilla did. Pretty soon they were lovers. Later Charles was to become smitten with Camilla - but as far as marriage was concerned, there were too many strikes against her. Instead she married cavalry officer Andrew Parker Bowles (top right, alongside son Tom and daughter Laura), who was already the love of Princess Anne's life, in precisely the same way that Camilla was to become the love of Prince Charles's. Camilla's jilted lover Kevin Burke recalled how much store Camilla placed in the fact that her great-grandmother Alice Keppel (inset) had been Edward VII's mistress. In her new book On The Fringe, interior decorator Imogen Taylor reveals how the Duchess was fired from one of the few jobs she held down before her 1973 marriage to a cavalry officer. Enthusiastic party animal that she was, Camilla was sacked for being late for work at the posh interior designers Colefax And Fowler after attending a dance the night before.

Ministers are preparing for an early general election after three High Court judges ruled that Brexit cannot be triggered without a vote in Parliament, according to reports. Thursday's ruling prompted hardcore Remainers such as former Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg to vow to use Parliamentary votes demanded by the High Court to try to derail Britain's exit from the EU. Some pro-Brexit ministers have responded to this threat by suggesting that Mrs May call a general election in order to increase her Parliamentary majority to reduce the voting power of the hardcore Remainers.

Pre-fabricated homes certainly ain't what they used to be

Mention the word 'prefab' and you would not visualise picture-perfect homes with saunas, cinema rooms and sweeping staircases.
