Having previously acted in two minor parts, Annie is set to be launched to stardom as she plays her mum's young double.

The Wife is an adaptation of Meg Wolitzer's 2003 novel of the same name.

Following the story of a writer who decides to leave her husband while traveling to receive a prolific award, it also stars Christian Slater, Max Irons and Logan Lerman.

The drama sees six-time Oscar nominee Glenn Close playing Joan Castleman, a woman best known as the wife of an incredibly successful man.

In 2011, Starke played a waitress in American drama Albert Nobbs - which also starred her mother as the titular character.

And she embodied a singing Jerome in the 2001 TV movie version of South Pacific.

But she is now slated for two major roles playing her mother's younger self with the other being in the Owen Wilson led comedy Who's Your Daddy?

She will feature for the first time in a production which doesn't have her mum attached to it next year in the drama We Don't Belong Here.
