A dog owner has taught his pet a hard lesson of being careful what you wish for.

KC Martin's pet pitbull was begging him for sweets one day as he sat eating his Halloween candy.

To play a prank on his beloved pet, he let him try one of the sour sweets.

The dog's hilarious reaction has meant the video has gone viral, clocking up 685,000 views in two days as well as 10,000 shares.

KC Martin gave his dog a sour treat when he kept drooling and eyeing up his Halloween stash

The dog licks the sweet, thinking he is finally getting what he asked for. He takes his time to taste it before the hilarious reaction

The video opens with KC sat at a counter eating some sweets, talking to his dog.

He says: 'It's a sourhead, hey you want some?

'Look at that dog, look at that drool. He is drooling.

'Sit down. This is sour, extremely sour.'

The dog stretches out his tongue and just takes a lick, getting the full taste of the sour sweets.

The pitbull finally gets the full hit of the sour taste and jumps in surprise.

KC's dog then looks at the sweet with a terrified expression and it's probably safe to say he won't be eating another any time soon

KC wrote online that the dog was his 'baby boy' and was pleased at the huge viral reaction to the post

He goes crazy, backing away from the sweet when his owner holds it out to offer him more.

KC asks him: 'What's wrong with you?' while he and a friend laugh at the dog's reaction.

He offers him 'one more lick for the road, buddy' but this dog will not be drooling over sweet any time soon.

Posting on the video later, KC, who lives in Georgia USA, wrote: 'It's my baby boy lol. They love him my dude...this awesome though. I still laugh when I see it.'

Vets usually advise that dogs are not given any sweets or chocolate.
