Sisters in style...sort of! Duchess of Cambridge takes style cues from Paris Hilton by wearing same dress the hotel heiress wore a week earlier

  • The 34-year-old British royal stunned on the red carpet at the premiere of A Street Cat Named Bob in London on Thursday
  • The $400 cream Self-Portrait dress was also worn by Paris when she attended the amfAR Inspiration Gala in Los Angeles last Friday
  • The gown features a prominent slit, a long flowing pleated skirt and a lace bodice with a high neckline
  • Designer Han Chong, who founded the brand three years ago, said he has been inundated with inquiries since Kate wore the dress

Known for her figure-hugging, revealing and often wild outfit choices, Paris Hilton is not an obvious style influence for the Duchess of Cambridge.

But the 34-year-old British royal stunned on the red carpet at the premiere of A Street Cat Named Bob in London on Thursday wearing a cream design previously worn by the hotel heiress.

Paris, 35, first wore the $400 pleated crochet floral maxi dress by Self-Portrait - which features a prominent slit in its long flowing pleated skirt - to the amfAR Inspiration Gala in Los Angeles last Friday.

Look like a work of art in Kate's Self-Portrait dress

It’s a fashion first for the Duchess of Cambridge! Stepping out to the premiere of A Street Cat Named Bob, Kate wore a dress by Self-Portrait - the very first time she’s worn this popular label.

Unless you've been hiding under a rock recently, you'll be well aware of Self-Portrait. Launched in 2013, the brand's signature lace dresses have gone on to be worn by pretty much every A-lister out there including Beyonce, Chrissy Teigen and Olivia Palermo to name but a few. In fact, we spotted Paris Hilton in this very same dress just last week!

Featuring a high neck top in the label's signature floral crochet, plus a pleated skirt, it's an ultra-elegant gown and suits Kate down to the ground.

The Duchess normally favours designers like Alexander McQueen and Jenny Packham when it comes to eveningwear but for £320, finally this is a red carpet look we can try ourselves! Click (right) now to snap up a two tone version.

Other features of the dress include a modest high neckline countered by an intricate lace bodice.

But both women put their personal stamp on the outfit.

Kate wore her hair down and red shoes, while Paris gave her look an LA twist by accessorizing the dress with dangling earrings, a jeweled headband and patent white stilettos.

Self-Portrait was founded by Malaysian-born designer Han Chong in 2013.

The designer studied at London art school Central St Martins.

Han said his 'heart skipped a beat' after seeing Kate wearing the dress.

'Feels so incredible, just like a dream! It's a proud moment for me as designer to find her in one of my designs,' he wrote on Instagram

He said the brand have been inundated with requests for the dress since Kate's red carpet appearance.

'Everyone has been asking for it, we are listening,' he added.
