Bushy bearded David Tennant takes to the water as he films new flick You, Me and Him alongside Lucy Punch in Warwickshire

He's been busy filming Broadchurch.

And David Tennant got stuck into filming new flick You, Me and Him in Warwickshire on Friday.

The Scottish actor, 45, showed off a fully-grown beard as he got into character on set alongside co-star Lucy Punch.

Showing off his new facial hair, he rocked a cargo jacket and ripped jeans as he held onto a hot water bottle to shield him against the cold. 

Rowing a boat in the pretty lake, co-star Lucy could be seen enjoying the ride as she chatted with a diver who appeared at the side of the boat. 

The blonde actress looked stylish in a blue cardigan, layering her clothes for warmth.

Further scenes saw the actors enjoying as quiet row around the lake as they took in the views. 

The film, due for release in 2017, follows a career woman who is fighting for the perfect family.

But when her girlfriend falls pregnant after a drunken one-night stand, she has nine months to decide whether there is space for her in this unconventional family.

Tennant plays the role of Scott who is responsible for the pregnancy.

Speaking about the film, Tennant said: 'Daisy Aitkens has written a brilliant, funny, surprising and moving script and I am delighted that she has asked me to be in her first feature – as she is clearly going to be making many, many more and I want to be in all of them. 

'And I am very pleased to be working with Bad Penny again, a company that represents all that is good and exciting in young British filmmaking. Thanks for having me!'

Meanwhile, David has been working on the third and final series of Broadchurch.

The original cast will be joined by Sir Lenny Henry and Roy Hudd for the latest eight-part installment of the series.

In their latest outing the daring duo will take on a brand new case, following a serious sexual assault.

Producers have been researching the ins and outs of the plot for a year, and have worked closely with local organisations and police to truly get to grips with the emotional strain a crime like the one featured has on the victims, friends and family involved.

Writer of the new series Chris Chinball, said: 'We have one last story to tell, featuring both familiar faces and new characters.

'I hope it's a compelling and emotional farewell to a world and show that means so much to me.'
