Stacey Dash is under attack on Twitter after she made the mistake of insulting Beyonce's mother Tina Knowles.

The actress and conservative pundit, who hosts the Fox News program Outnumbered, took aim at Knowles after she posted a photo of herself and Beyonce's Destiny's Child bandmate Kelly Rowland at a Halloween party last week.

In the image, Rowland was dressed as Dash's character Dione from Clueless, and Knowles wrote: 'This is my baby as Dione last night of course she is prettier and more smart than the one from the movie but I was confused cause she kept saying something about her pager.'

The comment seemed to be mocking the intelligence of the film character, and not Dash herself, but the actress did not see it that way.

Dash wrote a blog post criticizing Knowles, saying at one point: 'First of all, if you're trying to throw shade about someone's intelligence, maybe use 'smarter' instead of 'more smart.''

Soon after she posted her blog, Beyonce fans took to Twitter to go after Dash, with one individual using her most famous line from Clueless and writing: 'Well, there goes your social life.'

Comment: Knowles wrote that Rowland was 'prettier and more smart than the one from the movie' in what seemed to a reference to the character, not Dash

Edit: Knowles later clarified that she was talking about the movie character and not Dash

Beyoce fans also pointed out that Knowles did not seem to be attacking Dash, with one person writing: 'seems like she was talking abt a character, hence the reason she said Dionne & not Stacey. wtf are you mad abt? Sit down.'

Meanwhile others went after Dash, with one fan writing: 'there you go, still grasping on your 15 minutes like grim death.'

Another fan wrote: 'oh, honey... keep reaching for that relevance... someone may actually give a s***, someday.'

And another Twitter user was even more blunt, writing: 'No one gives a f*** what you think.'

Knowles also attempted to clear the air by editing her Instagram post, editing the caption by adding: 'lord no shade intended!!!! It was a character in a movie!!!!'

The posting came just a few days before Knowles' daughter and son-in-law Jay Z hit the campaign trail to support Hillary Clinton.

Dash meanwhile is supporting Donald Trump in the upcoming election.

She came under fire late last year after she discussed eliminating Black History Month and BET in a post on her blog late last year.

She wrote at the time; 'I don't need a special month or special channel. What's sad is that these insidious things only keep us segregated and invoke false narratives.'

They're with her: Last week, Beyonce and Jay Z showed their support for Hillary Clinton on the campaign trail

Dash voted for President Barack Obama in the 2008 election but then switched her party affiliation in 2012 to Republican, endorsing Mitt Romney in the election.

She was born in the Bronx and is part Bajan, African American and Mexican. She is the cousin of Roc-A-Fella Records founder and CEO Damon Dash.

The other founder of Roc-A-Fella is Jay Z, but he and Damon had a falling out a little over a decade ago with Damon leaving to start his own label Roc4life.

Around the same time, Damon married his now ex-wife Rachel Roy, who many believe is the 'Becky with the good' hair referenced in Beyonce's recent song Sorry, which tells the story of a husband's affair with another woman.

Dash also criticized Jay Z after he campaigned for Clinton, be retweeting a blog post written by Bristol Palin entitled: '5 offensive and lewd lyrics Jay-Z lyrics sang before endorsing Hillary Clinton.'
