And Kate Beckinsale looked as though life was just rosy as she stopped by her local branch of Whole Foods in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon to pick up a beautiful bunch of blooms.

The Underworld star, 43, appeared happy and relaxed as she strolled to her car with a bouquet of pink and red roses in her hand.

Proving she can rock a low-key look just as well as red carpet glamour, the mother-of-one flashed a hint of toned tum in a flimsy, semi-sheer vest top.

Kate paired her white tee with a slightly unusual combination of baggy grey jogging bottoms and a pair of towering white stiletto heels.

The actress sheltered her eyes from the Californian sun with a pair of dark shades and wore her brunette locks hanging loosely around her shoulders in perfectly-tousled curls.

Kate showcased her natural, English rose beauty with low-key make-up as she left the store.

Kate is mother to Lily, 17, with her actor ex, Michael Sheen, 47, and she recently caused a stir by confessing she got her in trouble at school after accidentally doodling a penis on her daughter's homework.

The actress told the host the teacher initially told her daughter that the drawing was inappropriate, before Lily had to break the news that it was actually her mother who made the doodle.

The star confessed to having a habit of rearranging fruit so that it resembled a penis.

'It's like my bat sign,' Kate explained.'People know I've been there if there fruit bowl has been rearranged.'

Michael and Kate split in 2003 and he has been in a relationship with comedic actress Sarah Silverman, 45, since 2014.

Speaking to Chelsea Handler on her Netflix talk show Chelsea, he explained: 'Our relationship now is probably better than it ever was. And it helps that she [Kate] actually likes Sarah more than she likes me.

He added: 'The only way it doesn't work out is that now I have not only Sarah, but also Kate and my daughter Lily, who all just make fun of me and embarrass me at any given point.'

Speaking about the pair's friendship, Sarah said: 'He and Kate are like brother and sister. I love her, she's hilarious. She's really, really cool.'

After her relationship with Michael ended in 2003, the actress went on to marry Len Wiseman.

The director recently filed for divorce from Kate after over a decade of marriage.
