Sexual sadist Rurik Jutting took a twisted delight in being the most infamous murderer in Hong Kong, MailOnline can reveal.

The narcissistic banker, who was today convicted of murdering two prostitutes in his luxury apartment in the former colony, is applying to serve his sentence in a British jail.

'Jutting said if he goes down for murder at least he is the most famous murderer in Hong Kong,' a member of his legal defence team told MailOnline. 'It is his narcissistic personality coming through in that all he cares about is that he is being talked about.'

The sick £350,000-a-year trader bought torture kits with sex toys, pliers, a blowtorch and sandpaper to inflict as much pain as humanly possible on his terrified victims.

A hardware store boss where he shopped for the kit told MailOnline: 'He knew exactly what he wanted to buy.'

Before his conviction for double murder, a member of his legal team said: 'It is by far the worst case I have ever been involved with. The details of the torture and what he wanted to do with one of the women were quite horrific.

'I don't think we were even prepared for the depth of depravity to which this man has sunk.' 

Years of watching violent porn films culminated in the 31-year-old seeking out a young prostitute to put his sick fantasies into practice. 

Having already killed one woman, subjecting her to rape and degradation by forcing her to lick a toilet bowl, he was now ready to go one step further.

The torture kit he put together was so basic it could have been something from medieval times – a hammer, nails, a piece of wood and ties to bind his victims' hands and feet.

To make the kit he trawled sex shop Sally Coco to purchase two sex toys and in a mobile phone video after he had killed his first victim he glorified in how much pain he would cause, by wrapping the toys in coarse sandpaper and using them on his next victim.

The erotica shop sells a wide range of goods and brands itself as an 'intimate lifestyle store'. Staff there refused to comment.  

On his return he called in at the Jan Cheung Sing hardware store already knowing what he wanted so he could inflict maximum pain on his helpless victim. 

In the store Jutting bought a pair pliers, hammer, nails, and sandpaper.

He also paid £30 for a small blowtorch that he planned to use on one of his victims to act out his sick sadistic sexual fantasies. 

Store boss Lewis Chen said the bloated double killer had already made up his mind what he wanted when he stopped at his shop. 

'He didn't look around,' he said. 'I remember him as he was very big and fat and came in here and just said what he wanted. He just said what he wanted and I got it down from the shelf.

'He chose things straight away. The only thing that I did not have and he said he wanted was a paper cutter.

'I had box cutter knives, but he said it had to be a paper cutter. He paid about $400HK for his goods and left.

'I had never seen him before. He never came here before to buy anything,' 

Mr Chen's store is just yards from the entrance to he swanky J Residence where Jutting lived in a luxury £4,000 a month flat. 

When evil Jutting called into the shop about 5pm he had already killed his first victim.

He almost decapitated 23-year-old Sumarti Ningsih with a knife after raping and torturing her for three days and stuffed her body in a suitcase on his balcony.

Mr Chen, whose family has owned the store for more than 60 years, said he was shocked when he read about the murders.

When he saw photographs of Jutting he immediately realised he was his customer.

'When I read about those poor girls, I felt sick,' Mr Chen told MailOnline. I just thought he was another customer. He is just sick in the head.' 

Jutting didn't get the chance to use his torture kit.

Having persuaded Seneng to come back to his 31st floor luxury flat in Wan Chai she began screaming and shouting when she saw a gag made from rope and a condom.

She was killed within 45 minutes of entering his flat. 

The Indonesian sex worker continued to struggle and Jutting sliced through her throat.

She did not die instantly, bleeding to death on the floor of his living room.

Police would find the gruesome kit when they carried out a forensic search of his flat.

He admitted years of watching rape and torture on films and reading about inflicting pain on women had led to the point where he wanted to try it out.

Rough sex no longer aroused him: only hurting someone in the cruellest way imaginable turned him on.

In one of 42 short videos he made, Jutting showed off his instruments of terror and added 'That is not just torture. It is the most inhumane torture possible.

Jutting also told the camera he had hundreds of pins, needles and nails – what he called 'f***ing awful stuff'.

He admitted openly: 'Clearly (they're) there for the torture of a person'.

'I have played that out in my mind how I am going to do that over several days,' he added.
