It's official - Ruby Rose and The Veronicas' Jess Origliasso are back together.

Rumours swirled on Sunday that the pair had rekindled their romance, after a series of loved-up pictures and messages were shared on Instagram.

And on Monday, the Hook Me Up hitmaker told Nova FM's Kent 'Smallzy' Small the pair fell back in love while filming a music video for new Veronicas song, On Your Side, which Ruby stars in.

'It's me. Me and Ruby Rose. And it is our love story in this video,' Jess said.

'It's about the dynamic, the highs and the lows of people in love, in a relationship.'

Speaking of her rekindled romance, Jess described it as 'the craziest thing.'

'We have been friends for eight years. A really long time and it was just honestly the craziest thing.

'We just reconnected over doing this video, she wrote and directed it, and is in it with us and we just sort of fell in love.'

The pair were rumoured to have been dating in 2008, in what was thought to be an on-again-off-again relationship.

'When we first got together way, way back, it was hard to know how much to share,' the 31-year-old confessed.

'Now we are quite protective of what we have, so obviously being able to be open enough but keeping a lot of it for ourself is something that we're very conscious of and I think it just depends on the people what you're willing to share.'

While their original relationship was thought to have ended more than eight years ago, Jess said Ruby has a very long memory.

'She reminds me exactly how much last time definitely happened. She doesn't let me forget anything,' she revealed.

'I don't know, it's just a crazy thing when you care about someone for so long and then you have the chance to be able to reconnect.

'And we've grown up a lot, we met very early on and we were very different people.'

Jess' sister Lisa, the other half of the progressive pop group, said she wasn't surprised the pair had reconnected.

'From the beginning I've always seen the chemistry and the connection there,' she confessed.

'(Ruby) has been a very dear friend. So obviously I'm like yeah babe, obviously you two are in this.'

The confirmation comes after the Orange Is The New Black actress gushed about Jess on social media.

She shared an image of the pair cosying up to one another in New Zealand, where the video for the new song was filmed.

'Road trip with the most beautiful girl I've ever known and loved @jessicaveronica,' Ruby captioned the photo, which pictured them wrapping their arms around one another.

Soon after, Jess reposted the image of the new couple alongside the text: 'She told me; how can I not believe in fate'.

The video for The Veronicas' new single On Your Side will be released later this week.
