It has been a tumultuous series, wracked with romance woes, tears and friendship bust-ups.

But the stars of TOWIE were in chirpy spirits for the finale episode filmed on Sunday, with blonde bombshell Kate Wright, 24, putting on a typically busty display in a plunging gown.

Meanwhile Megan McKenna, 24, looked elegant in a strapless floor-length number, as the suited and booted cast descended on a lavish country mansion for this season's final scenes.

Kate looked suitably princess-like in her floral print pale pink gown, which featured a dramatic tulle-layered skirt.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday night, the blonde beauty shared a sizzling snap of her attire which she captioned simply: 'TOWIE FINALE'.

She was joined by Megan, who opted for a similar dusky pink gown, which featured a strapless cut and an embellished bodice that teased a glimpse of cleavage.

Despite her on-off status with tattooed hunk Pete Wicks after his sexting scandal, the brunette beauty seemed to be in good spirits.

The latest series of TOWIE is coming to an end and of course the gang are going out with a bang.

Never ones to miss an opportunity to dress up to the nines, they all attended the Rose Gold themed finale party in their most glitzy gowns. It was like an explosion in a sequin factory with Lydia Bright, Kate Wright, Danielle Armstrong, Chloe Sims and Georgia Kousoulou all rocking embellished looks.

Sporting some leaf-like headgear, the reality star flouted the 'legs or boobs' rule with her dress, which was also slashed to the thigh.

The cast were also out celebrating Chloe Sims' birthday, and the lady in question pulled out all the stops for her special day.

Leading the glamour in the men's stakes, Megan's on-off beau Pete looked typically dapper in a blue velvet blazer.

Sunday night's TOWIE episode opened with the boys preparing to celebrate Pete Wicks birthday and the girls looking forward to Fireworks night.

But despite it looking as though Pete and Megan were well on their way to reuniting, things quickly took a nasty turn.

Opening the episode discussing Megan and Pete's relationship over brunch, the boys asked what she would be getting him for his birthday.

'We're not actually together so I don't think she's bought me any presents,' Pete admitted, adding that the only thing he was expecting was insults.

Meanwhile Megan appeared to have softened, after her estranged beau had her initials tattooed on his hand.

'I had no idea that he would get my initial tattooed on my hand. I love that, I can't believe it- that's the sweetest thing anyone's ever done, she gushed during an autumnal walk with the girls.

And in a move that would surely surprise Pete, she added: 'I've got him a memory book for his birthday to remember what a good girlfriend I am. It's not a Rolex but he doesn't deserve that just yet!' she added.

And as the group gathered for Pete's al fresco birthday on Fireworks night, complete with toffee apples and presents, Megan took a moment to speak to her former beau, during which they shared a kiss
