There are still six weeks to go, but Christmas appeared to come early in Liverpool as Nikki Sanderson prepared to film a festive scene on the set of Hollyoaks.

The actress, 32, showed off her legs in a racy thigh-skimming Santa costume while running through her lines with hunky co-star Jimmy Essex, her on-screen boyfriend.

Adding to the playful look with a pair of raunchy striped stockings, Nikki caught the eye as she thumbed her way through a shooting script during a short break between takes.

The brunette – who plays troublesome Maxine Minniver on the long-running show – added to her seasonal ensemble with a jaunty Santa hat, while towering black heels rounded things off.

Bold red lipstick, offset offset by her subtle use of pale foundation, added to the seasonal colour scheme.

Having fully embraced the festive theme Nikki appeared to be in high spirits as she chatted with Jimmy before making a call on her mobile phone.

The pair were filming alone on a set adorned with decorations as the Channel 4 show prepared to shoot scenes for a forthcoming Christmas episode.

But with temperatures plummeting the cold weather appeared to get the better of show newcomer Jimmy, who blew between his hands in a bid to warm them up.

Given the chilly conditions his character was unwisely required to film his scenes as Adam Donovan without wearing socks.

Former Coronation Street star Nikki is ending the year after highlighting the online abuse she received for starting a relationship with boyfriend Gerg Whitehurst just weeks after his marriage collapsed in 2015.

Appearing on Loose Women in July, she said: 'They’re [the trolls] saying these things because I met my partner Greg last year, and he also got married the same year.'

However, she took pains to labour the fact her boyfriend's marriage was over long before their romance started, saying:

'It wasn’t long after his marriage broke down that we started dating, and because they [the public] didn’t know the story behind it, people blamed me for wrecking his life and his ex-wife’s life.'

She added: 'I’ve never suffered from trolling before. But I’ve seen over this year how much of an effect this can have on you.'
