'I love it when Nicole flirts with me': X Factor's Matt Terry gushes about mentor Scherzinger as he discusses their 'close' relationship

X Factor viewers were shocked to see Nicole Schezinger, 38, leap into his arms after he survived another week on the show last weekend.  

And Matt Terry, 23, has revealed that he has a very special relationship with his mentor admitting that they've grown 'closer' in recent weeks.

He told OK! magazine: 'We’ve definitely got a lot closer over the past few weeks. I find it really easy to talk to her now and she’s always there whenever I need her.'

Discussing their close bond, he added: 'I love it when Nicole flirts with me – it makes all my friends jealous!' 

He continued: 'She’s always asking me if I have any needs or worries, she genuinely wants to help us. 

'I have her personal assistant’s number and if ever I need her, she calls right away.'

A treat for the ears and eyes!  Matt isn't short of female attention, and admitted that he has been inundated with fans who have even visited him at the X Factor house 

Matt previously admitted to the magazine that he fancied his 'cool and chilled' mentor - who is dating Grigor Dimitrov - but lamented: 'She's totally my type but sadly way out of my league!'

The star is newly-single following his split from girlfriend, Jasmine Avis but despite their relationship breaking down, he revealed his ex had been 'very supportive'.

He explained: 'She ended things with me after three years. I was trying to pursue a career in music and she was trying to become a dancer and we were holding each other back.'

However, Matt isn't short of female attention, and admitted that he has been inundated with fans.   

'I’ve had a few indecent proposals on social media and recently a group of women turned up at the house and wanted me to sign their underwear,' he confessed. 

'It’s been crazy but I really appreciate all the support.'

Matt's hard work has clearly been paying off as he has so far progressed through the competition without any drama. 

Nicole also mentored Freddy Parker, who was eliminated in Week Two, and Ryan Lawrie. 

Ryan, 20, has often found himself in the bottom three acts, and was recently slammed on Twitter when fan favourite Gifty Louise was axed.

Last weekend was a different story, however, with his rendition of The Beatles' Twist And Shout gaining him enough votes to avoid any on-screen dramatics.
