They are known for staying out of the spotlight as they raise their two young children.

But Hugh Grant and his Swedish girlfriend Anna Eberstein made a rare red carpet appearance together on Sunday, as they headed to the 20th Annual Hollywood Film Awards in Los Angeles side by side.

The actor, 56, and his 37-year-old beauty decided to glam up for their date night without their kids in tow - with Anna putting on a leggy display in a chic mini dress and Hugh looking dapper as ever in a suit.

The pair looked comfortable in each other's company as they posed and laughed on the red carpet for the cameras.

Formed of trendy corduroy material, the frock featured classic suit lapels and gold double-breasted vintage buttons at her middle.

Look suave in a tuxedo dress like Anna Eberstein's

Anna Eberstein and Hugh Grant were spotted at the 20th Annual Hollywood Film Awards in Los Angeles this week looking very dapper in tailored looks.

And whilst Hugh looked very smart in his suit, it was Anna who stole the show wearing a Balmain tuxedo dress teamed with cut out ankle boots and a Stella McCartney clutch bag.

We’re loving this double breasted suede dress which is a super sexy take on tailoring. Sadly this exact design has now sold out, but you can click the link on the right to shop the current Balmain collection at Net-a-Porter.

Cinching in at her petite waist, the dress then skimmed her figure to her mid-thigh where it cut off to flash her long, bronzed legs.

Keeping the look classic throughout, she teamed the outfit with a pair of woven ankle boots and a sleek black clutch, lined with bronze chain detailing.

Meanwhile Hugh, who rose to fame as a heartthrob in films such as Four Weddings and a Funeral and Notting Hill, looked as handsome as ever in a clean-cut black suit which he jazzed up with a patterned tie.

While it is not known where they met, Hugh and Anna have two young children together - a son John, born in 2012, and a second child welcomed in October last year.

The sex and name of the baby remains a mystery, but the birth was confirmed by Anna's mother who told a local Swedish newspaper that she had another grandchild.

The star also raises two other children - a daughter Tabitha, four, and son Felix, two, with Chinese beauty Tinglan Hong.

Despite his successful romantic life, Hugh recently admitted to W magazine that he has a harder time feigning love in films rather than sex scenes.

He explained: 'Love scenes are extremely difficult. You're always within a millimeter of sentimentality and 'yuck'. But sex scenes are something else!

'The conventional response to sex scenes is that they're horrible and not sexy and it's all so unnatural. But I've always found filming sex scenes to be quite a turn-on.'

Anna and Hugh have had a busy few months, jetting around the world as he promoted his latest comedy Florence Foster Jenkins, co-starring Meryl Streep.

Despite having grossed a whopping $2.4 billion from 25 theatrical releases worldwide, the actor still admitted that working with the Oscar-winning actress was incredibly intimidating.

He confessed to the Hollywood Reporter: 'I imagined working with her would be terrifying, and, indeed, it was really.

'She is so brilliant of course, a genius, which is frightening in itself, but also unbelievably focused and dedicated. I had to raise my game.'

Old friends: Hugh also reunited with actress Andie MacDowell on the carpet - who he starred alongside in Four Weddings

The film marks Hugh's return to acting after taking a hiatus from the Hollywood lifestyle in recent years.

Admitting that he doesn't identify with the more glamorous acting scene, he said: 'I don't hate L.A., but I'm nervous about becoming one of those people who has a ferocious interest in how films did at the box office that weekend and, you know, would want to meet for egg-white omelettes in the morning.'

Grant appears to be getting back in the acting game however, as it was announced he had signed on to the cast of Paddington 2 last month.

With the first animated film making a whopping $289million at the box office, Hugh joins the cast as a celebrity who lives on the same road as the eponymous bear and his adoptive family, the Browns.

The character is described by the film's production company as 'a vain, charming acting legend whose star has fallen somewhat in recent years'.
