Flower power! Karlie Kloss wows in a striking floral gown with a very high split at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards  

When you take one of the world's leading designers as a date to an event, you are guaranteed to set the style bar high.

Karlie Kloss cut a striking figure at the annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards.

The 24-year-old actress stepped out in New York on Monday night in a stunning creation by Prabal Gurung.

While the unusual dress would probably not be everyone's top choice for a special occasion look, there was no denying its ability to make a style statement.

The model's dress was all about unexpected angles and lines with the long sleeve gown featuring a rectangular high neck, a low draped back and slightly flared sleeves.

The dress was tight across the blonde's bust before flowing out on a bias into a mid-length skit.

Not only did the catwalk star's skirt have plenty of movement when she walked, it also had an impressive split which finished in the middle of her hip.

While predominately white, the silk gown had black flowers with hints of orange down on side, which appeared to take inspiration from traditional kimono prints.

Giving it an avant garde edge, Karlie wore just one earring which was also from Prabal Gurung.

The silver twisted sphere earring was handmade from Nepalese recycled silver.

Low key start: Just a few hours earlier, the model was seen running about makeup-free

With the dress already making such an impact, Karlie wore her hair slicked back and kept her makeup low key without any bright shades.

The model brought her dress' creator along whit her to the event which was also attended Zendaya, Olivia Munn, Hailey Baldwin, Kelly Rowland and Solange, among others.

The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund is an annual competition whose aim is to cultivate the next generation of American design talent as winners receive a monetary prize and mentoring.
