'He's the father of my kids!' Naomi Watts reveals there's no hard feelings towards ex Liev Schreiber and admits she thinks it's 'important' to support him after their shock split 

Their split came as a shock as they were seen as one of Hollywood's most stable couples, having been together for 11 years.

And Australian actress Naomi Watts has admitted there's no hard feelings towards her ex Liev Schreiber and that she'll always support him.

The 48-year-old star told Entertainment Tonight things have remained cordial between them as she was seen in the audience for his new Broadway play, Les Liaisons Dangereuses last week.

'He's the father of my kids,' Naomi said. 

'So it was important to support him.' 

The King Kong star added about her former partner and his play: 'The play is fantastic and really I hope everyone gets to see it because he does some extraordinary work up there.'

The US-based pair are parents to two sons, Samuel Kai, seven, and Alexander Pete, nine. 

The duo announced their split in September with a joint statement, which read: 'Over the past few months we've come to the conclusion that the best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple.' 

'It is with great love, respect, and friendship in our hearts that we look forward to raising our children together and exploring this new phase of our relationship.' 

They added: 'While we appreciate your curiosity and support, we ask the press to be mindful of our children and respect their right to privacy.'

Last month, a source told OK! the reason for their split. 

'They've been on shaky ground for years,' the insider said.

'They split because she wants to travel the world, making movies and attending film festivals and red carpets. But he is a New Yorker and just wants to settle down with their kids.'

The insider also claimed that prior to false rumours about Liev enjoying extramarital relations with the family nanny had 'eaten away at Naomi for years.'

'Liev told Naomi time and again that she was being ridiculous, that there was nothing going on. But she was never sure,' the source said.
