Imprisoned Daryl refused to bend to Negan's will and join the Saviors as the latest episode of The Walking Dead focused on his imprisonment at the hands of the psychopathic leader.

The seventh season's third episode, entitled 'The Cell' began following a day in the life of one of Negan's top men, Dwight, to the soundtrack of The Jam's 'Town Called Malice.'

Dwight watched an old videotape of 'Who's The Boss?' before taking whatever food he wanted for a tasty sandwich.

But whenever Negan walked by Dwight and other members of the group had to kneel in front of its leader.

And when the camera panned back to show outside of the compound, there were zombies chained up and impaled on spikes providing security.

Daryl on the other hand was kept naked and alone in the dark in solitary confinement with only dog food sandwiches to eat as viewers learned more details of life with Negan's Saviors.

As the infuriatingly cheery song Easy Street by The Collapsable Hearts Club blared on loop in his cell, Daryl was eventually given clothes and finally lead outside by an armed Dwight.

Daryl was taken to see the doctor where they ran into Dwight's wife sherry, who it later emerged gave herself to Negan to save his life.

She had gone for a pregnancy test, which she told Dwight had come back negative.

'Oh well, maybe next time,' he told her awkwardly.

'Whatever they say just do it,' Sherry told Daryl before he was inspected by the doctor.

'It will get better if you let it, Negan will take care of you, trust me,' the doctor told him after inspecting Daryl's injured back.

On his way back to the cell they ran into bat-wielding Negan and Daryl was forced to his knees before being seated at gun point in front of a nice apartment that he could have if was to join them.

Daryl was then taken to the prison yard and made to look at the zombies, and told by Dwight: 'That's you asshole, unless you are smart, your choice you could be like them, or me, or them,' he said.

As he put him back in his cell Dwight told him: 'Make it easy on yourself.'

'I ain't ever gonna kneel,' Daryl told Dwight.

Negan then offered Dwight a 'blast form the past' with his ex.

'I'm fine, Im gonna pass but I'm cool,' Dwight told him to Negan's annoyance and anger.

Chance: Daryl was then given the opportunity to escape his cell when the door was left unlocked.

'I haven't earned it yet,' said Dwight.

'What are you talking about? You earn what you take,' said Negan.

Dwight then left the compound to track down a missing member of the group.

Negan asked each of his men 'Who are You?' and they replied 'Negan.'

'You see that? I am everywhere,' Negan declared, informing Daryl he had missed the chance to make his life 'so much cooler'.

Negan told Daryl he had three choices.

Almost there: He made it as far as an exit

So close: Outside he spotted a tantalizing group of motorbikes waiting

He could either end of 'on the spike' working for him as a dead man; he could get out of his cell and work for points but wish he was dead; or work for Negan and 'live like a king'.

'The choice sees pretty obvious and you should know there is no door number four. This is it, this is the only way,' said a snarling Negan.

He then swung Lucille at Daryl's head stopping an inch short... and was impressed when Daryl didn't flinch.

Busted: But he was quickly surrounded by Negan and his men

'Wow, you do not scare easy, I love that, but Lucille, that kind of pisses her of. Lucky for you she is not feeling too thirsty today,' he added.

'But I am, so I am going to go and get me a drink.'

Negan then left his men to beat Daryl.

Back in his cell Sherry whispered to him through the door that there 'were so many things I wish I didn't find out.'

Out on the road Dwight finally caught up with the missing man and attempted to bring him back at gunpoint.

Impressed: 'Wow, you do not scare easy, I love that, but Lucille, that kind of pisses her of. Lucky for you she is not feeling too thirsty today,' he told him

The captured man told Dwight it was okay if he killed him and encouraged him to do it, telling him he could not go back.

'There's only one of him and all of us, so why are we living like this?' the man asked him.

The man then dropped to his knees, begging Dwight to kill him.

'There is nothing back there for me. This is the last time I am going to kneel. You feel... I remember D,' he told him.

Retrieval: Meanwhile Dwight went out looking for a Savior who had fled

Out of the frying pan: After avoiding being squashed he was almost eaten by the other walkers who had made the jump

When Dwight told him he would impale everyone he ever talked to on the fence and dig up his wife's dead body to feed her remains to the crows he agreed to go back.

'Okay D, but you know there is nothing left,' he told him emotionally as he began to trudge back.

Dwight struggled with what to do before eventually putting the man out of his misery by shooting him.

Back at the compound Dwight met Sherry and told her they had done the right thing joining Negan.

They're everywhere: He finally caught up with the missing member, who himself was having a spot of bother with  a walker

Executed: Dwight struggled with what to do before eventually putting the man out of his misery by shooting him

'It's a hell of a lot better than being dead,' he said unconvincingly.

Dwight then returned to Daryl's cell and encouraged him to eat.

'You should be dead but Negan has taken a shine to you, you are lucky — don't forget it,' he said as he pinned up the polaroid picture of Glenn's dead body taken at the end of the premiere.

This time Roy Orbson's 'Crying' was pumped into the cell, and cry Daryl did.

Dwight then brought Daryl to Negan's apartment where he told him how Dwight had asked for his forgiveness after escaping with his 'hot' wife and her sister.

'You did it for someone else.... that's what I can't,' he said before being locked up once again.
