'Her massive grin is the greatest thing': New dad Eddie Redmayne gushes over his adorable daughter Iris Mary as he reveals he relishes fatherhood

He became a first-time dad to the adorable Iris Mary four months ago.

And Eddie Redmayne revealed that one of the 'greatest things' about fatherhood was his daughter's 'massive grin' in the mornings.

The Oscar winner, 34, who shares his tot with his PR executive wife Hannah Bagshawe, 33, added that Iris Mary had inexplicably learned how to shout rather than cry.

The Fantastic Beasts actor told People: 'It's hilarious, she'll just be sitting there going, "Behhhhh!" Like, what is that noise from this tiny little thing?'

Discussing his favourite part about being a dad, he added: 'It's in the morning if Iris has managed to sleep through the night and then you hear a gentle squeak and you go in [her room] and turn on the light.

'She has a massive grin that's like, "It's a whole new day". That's probably the greatest thing.'

The Danish Girl star also admitted that he was left dumbfounded by fatherhood, and that people's advice was incredibly helpful.

He told Entertainment Tonight: 'I don't think anything can prepare you.

'The amazing thing is everything that everyone tells you beforehand - which is all cliché - is true.'

He added: 'There's this amazing thing with children whenever you're having a bit of a tired moment or something, it's like she's always just one stop ahead of you, smiling you along. It's great.'

Eddie and Hannah, who welcomed Iris Mary in June, wed in Babington House in Somerset just before Christmas 2014 and confirmed they were expecting a baby in January this year.

Just months after their romantic Winter Wonderland-themed wedding, Eddie went on to win the Best Actor Academy Award for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory Of Everything.

After announcing Hannah's pregnancy, Eddie admitted they were waiting until their child was born to discover the sex.

The Danish Girl star Eddie told US TV show Extra at the Oscars in February: 'It's gonna be a surprise. 

'I was like, 'Maybe we should find out' (and) my wife's like, 'We're not finding out.' She wears the trousers.

'It's one of the great surprises that still exists in the world.'
