Life's a beach for Georgia May Jagger as she is announced as the new face of environmentally friendly range of swimwear, writes SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE

Georgia May Jagger, the 24-year-old model daughter of Sir Mick and Jerry Hall, has netted a new role as the face of Volcom’s So Solid swimwear line.

The environmentally friendly swimwear is made out of recycled yarn made from abandoned fishing-nets and other bits of discarded nylon. ‘To me Volcom is family and I am glad I am part of it,’ gushes Georgia.

Despite her eco-credentials, Georgia May still pursues a jet-set lifestyle, circumnavigating the globe burning up fossil fuels.

She is currently hiking in the Hollywood Hills with her father Sir Mick, the 73-year-old father-of-seven, who is expecting his eighth child in a matter of weeks with ballerina Melanie Hamrick, 29.

As millions of Poldark fans mourned the end of the second series of the BBC hit show on Sunday, one of its stars could not resist indulging them with her own special teaser ahead of its third run next year.

Heida Reed, who plays Poldark’s first love Elizabeth, toyed with her social media followers by posing on the set of the show in Cornwall, where they are currently filming the next series, wearing a very unlikely combination of her character’s period costume and a modern-day camouflage coat.

‘We’re back next year and Lizzie has a new style,’ she joked, as she stared into the camera.

Gary Goldsmith, the Duchess of Cambridge’s colourful uncle, thinks the cycle superhighways causing traffic congestion in London are part of a conspiracy.

He reckons they’ll be used for Google’s new driverless cars. Boris Johnson introduced new lanes when he was mayor as part of a £913 million project to make cycling safer. But they have been blamed for causing gridlock and pollution.

Goldsmith is not a fan of the cycling community. Last year, he hit out at a ‘speeding’ cyclist who ran over his chihuahua, Cheech, in Regent’s Park. Goldsmith posted an image of the alleged culprit on social media with the message: ‘Evil s***. . . Coming to get ya.’

Designer Stella McCartney has tried to build her fashion label without trading on her father Sir Paul’s name, although he has been a regular presence on the front row at her catwalk shows during her career. Now the 45-year-old is invoking the spirit of The Beatles for the debut of her menswear label as she is hosting the launch at Abbey Road Studios in North London, where Paul and the rest of the band recorded most of their albums.
