  • The 2009 Miss America winner explained that she suggested they name their son Wrigley if the Cubs won, and if they didn't, he'd be called Oliver
  • A nurse made the couple two different sets of baby footprints, one with the name Wrigley Oliver, and the other with the moniker Oliver Wrigley

Katie Stam Irk named her newborn son Wrigley after the Chicago Cubs' stadium following the baseball team's historic World Series win.

The Miss America 2009 winner and her husband Brian Irk welcomed their third child on Halloween, but they left their baby boy nameless until after the World Series specifically because of a playful bet Katie had proposed.

The Indiana-native, 30, told People that her husband has been a 'die-hard Cubs fan' his entire life, so she suggested that if the team won they'd name their son Wrigley, and if they lost the series, they'd name him Oliver after her grandfather.

Having fun: The Miss America 2009 winner said the name was a part of a bet she had with her Chicago Cubs-loving husband Brian Irk

'It wasn’t a win-lose kind of bet, I loved the name Wrigley and I wanted them to win,' she explained.

'It was just a fun, silly way to pick our son’s name instead of arguing about it.'

The couple and their children Charlotte, three, and Rose, 18-months, faithfully watched the Cubs entire season before the baby came.

Leaving it to fate: The mother-of-three said they decided they would name their son Wrigley if the Cubs won the World Series and Oliver after her grandfather if the team  did not

Waiting in anticipation: Katie said she and Brian faithfully watched the Cubs entire season during her pregnancy

After he was born, Katie and Brian chose to keep him nameless for the first two days of his life, as they waited to see what would happen during Game 7 of the series.

Katie explained that the birth certificate allows parents five days to name their child, but she and Brian weren't the only ones waiting in anticipation.

The mother-of-three said everyone at the hospital knew about the bet, and their nurse actually made two sets of baby footprints, one with the name Wrigley Oliver and the other with the moniker Oliver Wrigley.

Dedicated: Katie, who is pictured in September, gave birth on Halloween, but they waited two days to name their son

Cubby bear: Katie and Brian happily decorated Wrigley's nursery with plenty of Cubs memorabilia

Leading up to the final game of the series, the couple decorated their baby boy's nursery with plenty of Cubs memorabilia.

When the Cubs finally won, Katie said she and Brian both cried tears of joy as they celebrated the victory — and the naming of their son.

The new mom went on to predict that it will 'become an annual father-son bonding trip for Wrigley and Brian to go to Cubs games'.
