Australian celebrities are not missing the opportunity to have their say on who should claim the US presidency as the 2016 election finally comes to a head. 

As presidential candidates Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump eagerly await the results of the long-winded US election, models, actors and singers have taken to social media to encourage their fans to hit the polling booths. 

Celebrities like actor Hugh Sheridan, outspoken feminist Caitlin Stasey and actress Pia Miller have thrown their support behind the Democratic leader, while the Republican nominee doesn't appear to be faring well with Aussies in the public eye.

Dual US and Australian citizens Nicole Kidman and husband Keith Urban posted a proud photo to Instagram proclaiming they had visited the polling booths on Wednesday but were one of the few celebrities who did not reveal which presidential candidate won their vote. 

Actress and 'Free the nipple' advocate Caitlin Stasey took an audio snippet of Trump saying he respects and will 'take care of women' and posted a video of herself mocking his claims. 

She later re-posted a video from actress and comedian Amy Schumer backing Clinton and a cute clip of her kissing a mystery brunette who just earned a 'I voted sticker'.  

While former model and actress Kate Fischer, who once dated James Packer, appeared to be one of the only Australian celebrities who has spoken out in support of a Trump administration.

Fisher, who changed her name to Tziporah Malkah, posted an image of herself wearing a Donald Trump T-shirt last week, referring to him as 'Daddy'. 

WHEN WILL AUSTRALIA KNOW THE US ELECTION RESULTS? 

The election is being held in America on Tuesday, November 8, but in Australian time (AEDT) the dram will unfold on Wednesday.  

There are six different time zones across the U.S., and most polls open locally between 6am or 7am and close between 7pm and 8pm – depending on the state.  

Results could be called as early as 3pm on Wednesday (or 11pm in the US, Eastern Standard Time).  

'The world will never be the same- go Daddy!' 

Actors Hugh Jackman, Jesse Spencer and model Elle Macpherson hold dual Australian-American citizenships and are eligible to vote in the election.

Jackman, known for his role playing the mutant Wolverine, has backed the Democratic party but has not yet been spotted at the polls.

Mel Gibson - who grew up in Australia - did not confirm or deny if he was a Trump supporter when questioned at LAX in July. 

Neither Spencer - known for his role in House and Chicago Fire - or Macpherson have come out in support of either candidate or made their intentions to vote public.

While some have been tight-lipped, Actress Naomi Watts did not keep her opinion to herself, posting a simple message of support for Clinton using with the hashtags 'I'm with her' and 'stronger together'.

Singer Miley Cyrus has been an outspoken supporter of the Democratic leader, with her Australian beau Liam Hemsworth accompanying her to the booths. 

Packed to the Rafters' superstar Hugh Sheridan said he was with Clinton '100 per cent' and even offered voters from his new home in LA a lift to the polls. 

'People of LA please direct me if you need a ride to the polls today. I am happy to drive you,' he posted alongside a classy black and white photograph of Clinton. 

Famed actress Naomi Watts posted a simple message of support for Clinton, proclaiming 'it's time' with the hashtags 'I'm with her' and 'stronger together'

The Originals star Phoebe Tonkins has posted several images in support of Clinton during the election but chose one of the candidate bursting into laughter in her youth as voters took to the polls. 

'Today, be on the right side of history!!!!! Beautiful Americans, VOTE! This country is #strongertogether So get out there! Vote!' 

Actresses Claire Holt, Poppy Montgomery and Pia Miller also backed Clinton, with the Home and Away star posting the quote: 'There is not force more powerful than a woman determined to rise'.

WHERE CAN I WATCH THE US ELECTION RESULTS? 

Electoral maps and figures will be updated live on the Daily Mail's election coverage.

Australian television networks will begin live coverage from 10am on Wednesday.

Nine will have Karl Stefanovic and Laurie Oakes reporting from New York.

Channel 10's The Project host Waleed Aly is in Philadelphia.

Seven have reporters based in Washington DC.

ABC begins coverage from 6am with hourly live-crosses and continuous coverage from 10am with election analyst Antony Green, Charlie Pickering in New York and Chaser member Chas Licciardella on social media.

Former Australian Idol singer and drag queen Courtney Act recently travelled to the US to interview Trump supporters and posted a provocative image of himself draped in American flag apparel begging voters not to abstain.

'This isn't the time to abstain from voting cause you can't support Hillary. If you choose not to vote today YOU ARE voting for Trump. 

'You need to vote today for so many important things. Let's elect a democratic Senate so we can actually change the broken system.'
