Hitting back: The controversial 35-year-old told GetWestLondon that she in fact comes from a musical family and that those adamant on taking jibes at her should 'quit hating'

'My mum is a pianist and I've followed in her footsteps,' she explained. 'Her music is classical and mine is rap.

'Anyone who is saying I am a joke don't know I have a 2:1 degree in music technology and production.

'I come from a musical background. People haven't done their homework on me.'

Critics: This week, celebrated musicians Lily Allen and Professor Green aired their views of The X Factor's resident rapper Honey G to the nation

'Quit hating': Honey G hit back at the criticism, saying 'Lily Allen said she finds it offensive but she needs to get her facts right'

Turning her attention to the recent comments made by current music artists, Honey G added: 'Lily Allen said she finds it offensive but she needs to get her facts right.

'Professor Green said I'm taking the mickey out of rap music. But then Snoop Dog has talked about doing a record with me and 50 Cent has backed me .'

In fact, Snoop Dogg told the Daily Star in September that he was 'happy to see Simon [Cowell] is finally giving real hip-hop talent a chance on the show - it’s been a long time coming'.

'Offensive': Lily, 30, gave her very frank opinion on the wannabe rapper during an interview with DJ Annie Mac on Radio 1's The Exchange last Wednesday

However Snoop's comments were made before the aspiring artist was selected for the live shows -  this weekend she'll mark her sixth live performance of the series.

But Snoop had claimed he would watch out for Honey if she hadn't got through: ‘If Simon doesn’t take her through to the live shows, she ain’t got to worry, I will work with her.

'I’ll fly her over here, and we can record a song together, maybe even shoot a video. I’ll make sure we shoot it in the hood though. I don’t want Honey forgetting her ghetto roots.'

Continuing her argument against her 'haters', Honey - real name Anna Georgette Gilford - added: 'People who have said I am not going to be able to follow my dreams, these people need their head checked as I am through to the sixth show of X Factor.

What do you think? Professor Green then waded into the debate during an appearance on This Morning on Monday, in which he branded Honey 'a gimmick'

'Gimmick?': The I Need You Tonight rapper said 'We all have a sense of humour about things but it's gone a bit far. Someone else could be in the show who has a chance at having a proper career in music, that's all I say'

'Since the competition,  my confidence has boosted quite a lot and I am now determined to make it to the final. I am having the time of my life and don't want it to end. I have my heart set on a record deal with SYCO, a hit single, tours and more.'

Lily Allen slammed the controversial contestant on Radio 1 last week for being 'so wrong on so many levels'.

The outspoken singer, 30, gave her very frank opinion on the wannabe rapper during an interview with DJ Annie Mac on Radio 1's The Exchange on Wednesday, saying: 'I’m not black but I find it offensive. As far as I can tell, she is a white lady that dresses up in Ali G, Goldie Lookin Chain kind of attire.'

The Smile singer added: 'She has done really well on X Factor and ITV is pouring money into her. So wrong on so many levels, I can’t even start to talk about it.'

Predicting the future: Meanwhile, as Honey, Lily and Pro Green have been exchanging words, Twitter theorists have predicted that the X Factor star has indeed got a shot of winning

He told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield:  'If you're a rapper, you write your own lyrics and tell your own story so it's really difficult to attempt to be a credible rapper and come up with a song when the whole point of the show is to perform other people's music'.

'We all have a sense of humour about things but it's gone a bit far,' he added.  'Someone else could be in the show who has a chance at having a proper career in music, that's all I say.'

Summing up the year so far, another tweeter typed: '2016 the year of the unexpected I guess Honey G will win the X Factor now!'
