She has a few months to kill before the arrival of her third child.

And it looks like Katherine Heigl plans to spend some of her time knitting at home with her daughters while waiting for the big day.

The actress stepped out in Los Angeles on Tuesday and picked up some coffees to go as well as making sure to stock up on some chunky yarn for her creations.

The 37-year-old star Katherine wore a flowing smock-style top with cropped white trousers.

She pinned up half her chin-length locks and donned some stylish sunglasses.

Some yellow Valentino rockstud flats added a pop of sunny colour to her look.

Katherine and her husband Josh Kelley, 37, are expecting a baby boy in January.

On Sunday the couple enjoyed some quality alone time together and shared a romantic Instagram to document the moment.

The former Grey's Anatomy star has already been teaching her eldest daughter Nancy how to knit.

Alongside a photo of her adorable seven-year-old daughter knitting with pink wool, Katherine wrote: 'My gorgeous girl had her first knitting lesson over the weekend and killed it! Proud mamma over here!'

Katherine and Josh's son will be their first biological child, after previously adopting daughters Nancy from South Korea in 2009 and four-year old Adalaide Marie Hope, from the US in 2012.

The star admitted recently she 'feels chubby' as she prepares for the birth of her son.

'I feel great. I don’t feel pregnant, I just feel chubby and that’s hard as an actress in Hollywood,' she told News.com.au.
