Cate Blanchett looks effortlessly stylish in casual red sweater and cropped trousers as she takes a break on the set of Ocean's Eight

Filming commitments took a temporary back seat on Tuesday afternoon as Cate Blanchett relaxed on the set of forthcoming action drama Ocean’s Eight.

The celebrated actress, 47, looked relaxed during a break between takes as filming continues in earnest on the forthcoming crime drama – a spin-off of George Clooney’s hugely popular Ocean’s trilogy.

In stark contrast to the edgy ensembles demanded of her character in the new movie, Cate looked rather more subdued in a red patterned sweater and stylish cropped trousers while making her way across the New York set.

The Australian star completed her look with a pair of black and white pumps, while her willowy blonde locks were heavily fringed and loosely brushed, thus complimenting the low key nature of her wardrobe.

Cradling a folder and large plastic coffee cup in one hand, Cate engaged in an animated chat on her mobile phone. 

The actress was previously seen on set rocking a seventies inspired three-piece suit with a navy blazer and flared trousers, paired with gold heel boots.

As work continues n the new film Cate has been joined by daughter Edith, the child she adopted with director husband Andrew Upton in 2015.

Speaking to Good Morning America last year, the actress revealed that her three sons had taken to their sister with much love and affection.

She told host George Stephanopoulos: 'We have been blessed, we have been really blessed. I have three boys and a girl she's great.

'It is a wonderful thing when you see your children becoming a pack, sort of independent of you and I am very proud of my sons.' 

Directed by Gary Ross, Ocean's Eight is the first spin-off of the Ocean's Trilogy starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt. 

The reboot will star an all-female cast including stars such as Sandra Bullock, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway and even singer Rihanna. 

Ocean's Eight is scheduled for release in the United States on June 8, 2018.
