Paging Doc Brown! Christopher Lloyd to guest star on CBS' The Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory will meet Back to the Future in an upcoming episode of the science-centric show's 10th season.

The network released a statement Wednesday confirming that Christopher Lloyd will guest star in a mystery role on the December 1 episode.

The 78-year-old actor is best known for playing the eccentric time-traveling inventor, Dr. Emmett Brown, in the Robert Zemeckis trilogy.

The three-time Emmy winner is also linked to the cerebral CBS sitcom through director James Burrows, who helmed episodes of his eighties sitcom Taxi.

The casting news came two days after Variety revealed CBS is developing a spin-off prequel starring a young Sheldon Cooper with Jim Parsons executive-producing. 

The 43-year-old Golden Globe winner already receives an eye-popping $1M per episode alongside castmates Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco.
