Calvin dons a virtual reality headset, but experiences glitches with the connection fading in and out and the girl disappearing before his eyes.

Several scenes show the pair looking at each other in silence, with one dinner table scene echoing Taylor's We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together video.

There are also numerous shots of Calvin staring at a group of girls dancing, while he looks in on the fun from the outside.

Calvin sports a checked shirt and shearling jacket in a remote location, perhaps referencing Taylor's country background.

Similarities have also been noted between the wardrobe choices - which include pretty, polka dot dresses which reflect Taylor's girly sense of style - and the singer's costumes from her own music videos.

Most notably, the brunette video girl can be seen wearing a racy, leather ensemble reminiscent of Taylor's Bad Blood get up.

Another scene shows the love interest clad in a white two-piece, also similar to her Bad Blood attire.

The dance anthem's lyrics include,'You were the one thing in my way' and 'lie-awake, two faced'.

At the time of the song's release last month, Twitter was rife with claims that the song referenced Taylor.

One joked: 'When I hear Calvin Harris' song My Way.. I imagine Calvin lying on his bed writing "I hate Taylor Swift" all over his diary.'

'Anyone else curious to see Taylor swift's musical response to Calvin's latest hit my way because that song is a jam', another posted.

However, Calvin has revealed that he actually thought of the video's concept years ago, long before meeting Taylor.

Speaking on Z100, the star admitted: 'I thought of the concept years ago when I left [grocery store] Safeway. I was trying to move to London and I was working in the store in Scotland.

'I was trying to go down and make music for a living, but I couldn't because I didn't have any money.'

MailOnline has contacted representatives for both Calvin and Taylor for comment.

Taylor and Calving dated for 15 months from March 2015 to June 2016, but ultimately struggled to make their long-distance love work.

She was then linked to Avengers star Tom Hiddleston, splitting in September after three months together.
