On her Royal tour of New Zealand, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands has gained a whole host of new fans, thanks to her propensity to take a fashion risk.

Already in the three-day state visit to the country, she has wowed in a Givenchy green leopard print dress at the National War Memorial, as well as a floor-length red gown, which she wore at Government House.

And now, the stylish Dutch royal has pulled off another fashion coup.

This time, it came by way of an oversized navy blue hat, neutral poncho, skirt and sunglasses.

Queen Maxima paired her statement ensemble with neutral heels, large pearl drop earrings and dark leather gloves.

The Queen, alongside King Willem-Alexander, was visiting the Spirit of New Zealand Youth Training Vessel at Princes Wharf in Auckland when she paused for photographs both on board and just outside.

The Queen and King Willem-Alexander, who wore a navy suit and pale blue tie, took time to speak to various students on the ship.

Both were all smiles for the occasion.

The 45-year-old Queen has already shown in New Zealand that she is a fan of an oversized hat.

She opted for a large black headpiece when she visited the National War Memorial and later met with the Prime Minister of New Zealand, John Key.
