'Peyton Manning photobombing my pic!' Sofia Vergara posts snap from the set of Modern Family as two-time Super Bowl champ films a guest role

The Modern Family cast were in for a treat on Wednesday.

Former American football quarterback Peyton Manning, 40, was spotted on the set of Modern Family with Sofia Vergara.

The 44-year-old actress shared a picture with her 10.7m followers of her and the two-time Super Bowl champ.

She captioned the photo: 'Uggh #peytonmanning photobombing my pic.'

Sofia was dressed in her an outfit typical of her character's attire, complete with a leopard print blouse and fitted, flared jeans.

Her long ombre locks cascaded down her sides and she styled them in a center part.

Apparently Manning will appear in a January episode of the hit comedy, which will mark his first acting role.

Manning is set to play Coach Gary who is baby Joe's sports tutor in the 12th episode of the season.

Gloria, played by Sofia, brings him over to the house to help teach Joe how to throw and catch.

However, when the retired football pro's character starts helping around the house, Jay, played by Ed O'Neill, is left feeling a little emasculated. 

Meanwhile, Sofia's co-star Julie Bowen appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday.

The mother-of-three decided to address rumours that she is jealous of Sofia's fame.

The actress said to Ellen that she got an email saying a magazine was going to run a story about her acting 'icy' towards her co-star. 

Julie said she didn't know what to reply to the magazine as her and Sofia are genuinely friends, so she called her up to ask for her advice.

She then revealed that the Colombian-American actress told Julie to: 'Please just borrow my blouse.'
