His name is Simon and he dances like a dad... Le Bon shows off his moves during London party

He is the lead singer of Eighties pop band Duran Duran — beloved by Princess Diana — whose celebrated hits include Rio and The Wild Boys.

However, these days, Simon Le Bon, 58, can barely pass muster on the dancefloor, as he demonstrated when he did a spot of dad dancing with interior designer Kelly Hoppen, 57, who was celebrating 40 years in business at a party in London this week.

Wearing a black and pink brocade jacket, Le Bon looked as stiff as a mannequin.

Criticised over his astonishing dealings with a Kazakh oligarch, Prince Andrew is, nevertheless, still being allowed to act as a foreign trade envoy.

‘Air Miles Andy’, as he became known because of his fondness for overseas travel, is due to visit Mexico next week to attend a Pitch@Palace event, where foreign businessmen are encouraged to establish links with Britain.

The Duke of York stepped down from his official role as Britain’s foreign trade envoy in 2011 after a string of controversies, but has continued his global jet-setting.

This year, there were calls for an inquiry into his business dealings after this newspaper disclosed that he helped a Greek sewage company and a Swiss finance house pursue a £385 million contract in Kazakhstan.

Leaked emails also showed the Prince’s private office was far more involved in the £15 million sale of his marital home, Sunninghill Park, to a Kazakh oligarch, Timur Kulibayev, than previously admitted.

Disappearing Davina shows off her slim figure

TV presenter and fitness guru Davina McCall cut a svelte figure in a long-sleeved black dress at a London party this week

TV presenter and fitness guru Davina McCall cut a svelte figure in a long-sleeved black dress at a London party this week.

The 49-year-old former Big Brother host and presenter of weight-loss programmes The Biggest Loser and This Time Next Year has a history of drug and alcohol abuse and has spoken openly about strict dieting regimes.

‘I like to be a certain way — I set myself high standards,’ the mother of three has said. ‘I used to be terribly self-conscious in my 20s, but I’m more confident now and I think that comes with age. I think 50 is the new 40.’

Novelist Robert Harris, a great friend of Lord Mandelson, has attacked Labour peer Shami Chakrabarti for sending her son to public school.

Interviewed in the latest Oldie, Harris calls it ‘the height of hypocrisy’. I wonder if he thinks the same about his friend Peter mixing with so many oligarchs?

Incidentally, during the interview, Left-wing multi-millionaire Harris drank champagne and a bottle of claret and smoked a cigar. Nothing’s too good for the workers.

Can Dame Joan's boy get Trump to sit still?

Portrait artist Alexander Newley, the only son of Dame Joan Collins, reveals that he has an exciting new sitter in the pipeline: U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.

‘I have already put the feelers out to arrange a sitting with Trump,’ Newley, 51, tells me at the preview party for his new show at St Martin’s Crypt in Trafalgar Square.

‘Donald fascinates me much more than Hillary [Clinton] and will be a wonderful subject to bring to life on canvas.

‘I would like to get into his inner soul, not to mention painting the hair. It will be wonderful — lots of light brush strokes, and I think some burnt orange oil paint will give me the correct hue.’

How long will Donald Trump have to wait before the Queen gives him the honour of a full state visit?

He’s her 13th American President — and, apart from Lyndon B. Johnson, she’s met all of them since Harry S. Truman.

George W. Bush met with the Queen six months after becoming president, while it was 16 months for Bill Clinton. Barack Obama enjoyed the honour a mere ten weeks after entering the White House.

Let’s just hope Trump keeps his hands off the Duchess of Cambridge!

The Countess of Wessex shares the Queen’s preference for left-breast poppies

Stylish Sophie and her bag full of poppies

The Countess of Wessex showed that she shares the Queen’s preference for left-breast poppies as she toured Waverley Preparatory School and Nursery in Berkshire yesterday.

Prince Edward’s wife Sophie, 51, also accessorised her poppy brooch with a poppy handbag and matching red coat (left).

The mother of 13-year-old Lady Louise Windsor and eight-year-old James, Viscount Severn, recently completed a 450-mile Edinburgh to London cycle ride for charity, raising £180,000 for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme, of which Edward is a trustee.

Before she set off, Prince Philip told the Countess of Wessex she was ‘mad’.
