Back in black!  Julianna Margulies turns heads in dark dress at motor neuron disease gala in New York

She was famed for her luscious flowing locks on The Good Wife.

But Julianna Margulies was wearing a chic ponytail as she turned heads on the red carpet at a Project ALS gala in New York on Wednesday.

The saucy 50-year-old looked in fine form indeed as she attended the motor neuron disease charity's 18th Annual Tomorrow Is Tonight event.

The 50-year-old was looking good for her age in her trendy Carolina Herrera gown, which boasted a white check design and a plated skirt.

And she showcased her chiselled features by wearing her raven locks tied back in a tight bun as she pranced into the event. 

But she was not the only fine filly who was turning heads after trotting down the red carpet.

Indeed Julianna was joined by actress and singer Kelli O'Hara, 40, who made the slightly over ambitious decision to wear a tight black number embossed with a dragon design.

They trio were just some of the many who turned out to support the 18th annual incarnation of the event, which was held at the posh Cipriani 25 Broadway venue. 

Julianna was hosting the prestrigious event, while Tony Award winner Kelli was giving a performance.

Project ALS works to find treatments and ultimately a cure for the degenerative disease, which causes stiff muscles, muscle twitching, and gradually worsening weakness due to muscles decreasing in size.

It ultimately results in difficulty in speaking, swallowing, and eventually breathing.
