It's over! Bella Hadid and The Weeknd split after 18-month romance but 'remain friends'

Bella Hadid has split from rapper boyfriend The Weeknd after a year and a half of dating.

The news that the model, 20, and the rapper, 25, have gone their separate ways was confirmed Thursday by People.

'Their schedules have been too hard to coordinate and he is focusing on finishing and promoting his album,' a source told the publication. 'They still have a great deal of love for one another and will remain friends.'

Neither has yet commented on their breakup.

The couple were first linked back in April 2015 when Bella agreed to pose for the artwork for the Canadian musician's album Beauty Behind The madness.

A rep for the Weeknd - real name Abel Tesfaye - had no comment. A rep for Hadid did not immediately respond to request for comment.

The younger sister of model Gigi Hadid also starred in The Weeknd’s music video for single In the Night.

While The Weeknd is busy with his musical project, Bella has been gearing up for her debut as a Victoria's Secret model.

She's set to walk the runaway at the high profile event taking place in Paris later this month alongside her older sister Gigi, who took part in the lingerie spectacular for the first time last year.

Bella recently confessed, though, that her strict diet and gruelling boxing workout routine she's been adhering to in order to make the grade has made her thinner than she wants to be. 

'I really didn’t mean to [lose weight]. Like I want boobs. I want my a** back,' she told People.

Still, Bella clearly was determined to show her now ex boyfriend exactly what he's missing.

The dark-haired beauty showcased her newly thinner body in her dress that featured long shoulder straps and a chunky black belt at the waist.

She added a blue denim jacket and went bare-legged in slip-on flat shoes.

Bella wore her hair styled in a sophisticated bun and rocked silver-framed aviator shades as she sashayed out of the eatery carrying a mustard yellow tote.

Separate ways: The Weekend is busy focusing on completing and promoting his new album and a source told People the pair, pictured in Hollywood in March, called time on the relationship because it's become too difficult to coordinate their busy schedules
