'I talked to my wife and she said I can't talk about politics anymore': Tom Brady refuses to talk about Donald Trump on Gisele Bundchen's orders

Whether or not Tom Brady voted for Donald Trump may remain a mystery forever.

The New England Patriots quarterback refused to talk about the new president-elect on Wednesday, revealing he was following orders from wife Gisele Bundchen. 

'I talked to my wife and she said I can't talk about politics anymore,' Brady said during a press conference. 

'I think that's a good decision for our family.' 

Bundchen had denied that she and Brady were supporting Trump for president just days ago.

On Friday, Instagram user Ricky Valle asked the Brazilian supermodel: ‘Gisele I heard you and Tom were backing Trump! Is that true??'

Bundchen, who rarely acknowledges comments on Instagram, responded to the user with an emphatic all-caps 'NO!'

But on Monday, Trump told a crowd of supporters at a New Hampshire rally that Brady had personally called to reveal he had voted for him.

'He called today, and he said, "Donald, I support you, you're my friend, and I voted for you,"' Trump recalled. 

'So I said, "So Tom, you voted for me, you support me. Am I allowed to say it tonight to this massive crowd in New Hampshire?'''

'He said, "If you want to say it, you can say it," okay?'

Brady refused to clarify whether or not he in fact called Trump and gave him permission to share who he voted for. 

'Uh, why did I give him permission? So you're assuming I gave permission?' he replied to one reporter, according to CBS Boston.

Bundchen had denied on her own Instagram account that she and Brady were supporting Trump for president just days ago

The exchange came after Bundchen shared this photo of herself proudly posing in front of a new UnderArmour campaign ad featuring her famous spouse

'I'm just going to talk about football this week. I just want to focus on Seattle.' 

Brady has kept tight-lipped about his relationship with Trump in recent months, a sharp turn from when the Donald first entered the presidential race. 

In September 2015 a reporter spotted one of Trump's Make America Great Again hats in Brady's locker.

The Patriots star said then that he hoped Trump would become president, saying it would be 'great'. 

'There'd be a putting green on the White House lawn, I'm sure of that,' he added. 

Last month, Brady abruptly ended a press conference, after a reporter asked him a question about Trump's 'locker room talk' scandal. 

'Tom, you have kids of your own - how would you respond if your kids heard Donald Trump's version of locker room talk?' one reporter asked.

Brady responded by smiling and saying, 'Thank you guys, have a good day' before promptly walking off the stage.

The quarterback has been a friend of Trump ever since he was invited to judge the 2002 Miss USA pageant.

Brady hinted at that friendship as he continued to rebuke questions about Trump on Wednesday. 

'At the end of the day, I have a lot of relationships with a lot of people,' he said. 

'And I don't think a lot of people are entitled to what my conversations are with my friends of mine or people that I may speak with.' 

Brady also revealed that he was asleep when news broke that Trump had been elected as the next president of the United States. 

The quarterback added that he was a 'positive person' and was 'always happy when people experience success'. 

'I was happy when President Clinton won, I was happy when Barack Obama won twice, or when President Bush won,' he said. 

'I was happy when the Cubs won even though I'm not a Cubs fan.' 

'I think just as an athlete, you realize that a lot of people put a lot of things into competition, and when people go at it, you have respect for whatever outcomes there are.' 

'You always give respect to your opponent and try to do better next time.'
