With Christmas coming up in just over a month's time, now is the perfect time to combine a spot of shopping with a mini-break.

If your focus is on the holiday then Tallinn in Estonia is where your budget will stretch the most.

But if you're thinking about stocking up on some pricey presents then heading to Munich could cut your Christmas spending by as much as 14 per cent.

Stockholm (pictured) is one of the more expensive destinations for a pre-Christmas break

Post Office Travel Money has looked at 11 different destinations in Europe Brits can easily reach for a shopping holiday.

They looked at the cost of a two-night break for two, featuring food, drink, flights and accommodation.

A two-night break for two in the Estonian capital costs just £537.89 when departing from London on December 1 or 2, making it the cheapest of 11 destinations.

The second cheapest experience can be found in its neighbour Latvia where a two-night break costs slightly more at £546.73.

Meanwhile, the most expensive European destination for a mini-break can be found in Stockholm where the same experience will set you back £800.69.

It's £50 more expensive than the next most costly destination, Vienna.

Vienna (above) is just slightly cheaper than Stockholm for a pre-Christmas break but shop there and you could save up to 7.8 per cent

Prague, meanwhile, is the third cheapest mini-break destination.

A two-night break in the Czech capital will only set you back £581.99 but surprisingly you can expect to fork out more than 13 per cent more for luxury goods there than in London.

This means that buying the six items will set you back a whopping £990.83.

Post Office Travel Money's Andrew Brown said: 'The great value available in these two Baltic capitals helps to dispel the idea that UK tourists will be seriously out of pocket wherever they travel abroad after sterling's slump in value.

'Of course, this is not the case everywhere in Europe so the challenge for people planning trips in the coming weeks will be to do their homework and book a destination offering a combination of good value package prices and low costs for meals and drinks.'
