'When the world is talking about it, you feel affected': Perrie Edwards admits she will never 'go into detail' about 'personal' split with Zayn Malik.... after revealing she is now internet dating

She has been very open about how heartbroken she was after her breakup from Zayn Malik

However Perrie Edwards has revealed she will never spill the beans on why the pair actually split - and is now moving on with the help of internet dating.

First talking on the Jonathan Ross Show, the singer, 23, admitted she would never 'get into detail' about why she and the former One Direction singer, also 23, parted ways, because it is simply too 'personal' to make public.

Keeping things private: Perrie Edwards, 23, admitted she would never 'get into detail' over why she and Zayn Malik split on the Jonathan Ross Show as it is just too 'personal'

Perrie ventured to the chat show alongside bandmates Jade Thirlwall, Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Ann Pinnock, in order to promote the new Little Mix album Glory Days.

However as conversation turned to her breakup with Zayn on the show, which airs on Saturday night, the blonde remained tight-lipped.

She explained to show host Jonathan: 'For a normal girl to go through something like that it's hard. I think when the whole world is looking at it and talking about it, you feel a bit [affected by it].

Brutal: Despite not sharing every detail with the public, the Black Magic crooner did confirm in the band's upcoming book Our World that the boyband member broke things off via text

'Obviously I didn't say too much about it, I briefly mentioned it. I wasn't going to not mention it ... You're in control at the end of the day and I briefly mentioned it, kind of said what happened but I would never get into detail because it is personal.'

Despite not sharing every detail with the public, the Black Magic crooner did confirm in the band's upcoming book Our World that the boyband member broke things off via text.

She emotionally wrote: 'It was horrible, the worst time in my life.

'A four-year relationship, two-year engagement ended by a simple text message. Just like that. Even though things in my career were going really well, it was incredibly difficult for me.'

Happier times: The pair split up after four years together - two of which were engaged

She also admits in the book that the breakup left her homeless, having moved in with the singer not long before, and resulted in her 'crying every day'.

The blonde beauty has further hinted at the tensions between her and the Pillowtalk singer, who has since moved on with model Gigi Hadid, in multiple song lyrics since the separation.

In new single Shout Out To My Ex she talks of having to 'fake it' in bed before belting out the line 'I know you kissed her' in upcoming track F.U.

However, the Geordie star appears to be moving on from the difficult time - after admitting on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show on Friday that she's been internet dating.

When host Nick Grimshaw asked if she'd been using any apps or websites to help her in her quest for love, bandmate Jade said: 'There is an industry app which Perrie's been on before that she said was quite good, but Tinder ... not so much.'

The app in question refers to Raya - a Tinder-type platform which is specifically aimed at creative professionals.

Meanwhile Zayn, who recently released his own eponymous memoir, confessed in the book that the couple had clashed long before their eventual split.

'We've had to grow a thick skin': Little Mix told Jonathan Ross they've 'had a lot of stick over their appearance' as they talked about 'pressures' in the industry

Worlds apart: The girls found fame on X Factor five years ago and looked rather different to how they do today

He writes in the intimate autobiography: 'It was March 2015. I had been in a bad place for a while and I didn't see myself getting out of it unless I made a change.

'My relationship with my fiancée, Perrie, was breaking down. To make matters worse, there were so many crazy stories flying around in the newspapers about us, and it felt like such an invasion of privacy, it made me just want to disappear for a while.'

The breakup was not the only thing the glamorous girls opened up about on the chat show - with band member Jesy Nelson adding that it hasn't always been easy to feel comfortable with their looks.

Jesy (second from right) said: 'The way that we feel about ourselves. Especially in the beginning, we did get a lot of stick [about the way we looked]...'

She said: 'The way that we feel about ourselves. Especially in the beginning, we did get a lot of stick [about the way we looked]...

'I think there's a lot of pressure, especially for young girls, to look a certain way and when we went on The X Factor we didn't look that great and we got a lot of stick for it and it was hard.

'Obviously we'd just been thrown into this whole experience so we'd never experienced anything like this and it was just a bit of a shock to the system.

She continued: 'We still get it now but I think we've grown a thick skin now to it all.

She added: 'I think there's a lot of pressure, especially for young girls, to look a certain way and when we went on The X Factor we didn't look that great and we got a lot of stick for it'

'It's hard especially when you're so young and you're not used to people just being able to comment on what you look like and being able to see it in front of your face.'

However, the girls admitted they help each other to get through things and can never imagine being soloists now.

Jesy, who has recently sparked rumours of a split from her fiancé Jake Roche, said: 'If we were on our own, we'd be terrified.

She continued: 'We still get it now but I think we've grown a thick skin now to it all'

There will be no going solo: 'I think if we were on our own, we'd absolutely s*** ourselves,' Jesy told the audience

'I just love that we - I know it sounds really cheesy - but I love how we support each other and bring out a confidence in each other that we never knew we had.

'I think if we were on our own, we'd absolutely s*** ourselves.'

Leigh-Anne said: 'When I split up with my ex, I was thinking 'I have got my three best friends, what does it matter?'

'I'm so lucky to have these girls and that's how we feel all the time. We're the best of friends. People don't believe that we actually get on as well.'

On the breakdown of Perrie's relationship with Zayn Malik, the pretty blonde (second from left) said: 'For a normal girl to go through something like that it's hard'

Adding: 'I think when the whole world is looking at it and talking about it, you feel a bit [affected by it]. Obviously I didn't say too much about it, I briefly mentioned it'

Speaking about loving Japan, the girls recounted a story where they were caught up in an Earthquake.

Perrie explained: 'Me and Jesy are lying in bed having a little moment, a heart-to-heart and I'm looking at her and the bed is [shaking]...

'She thought a man had came into our room and started shaking the bed!... We were on the 27th floor!' Jade added: 'Leigh-Anne was snapchatting, getting a nice filter!'

The girls said they felt lost when they had time off after five years of working. Perrie said:

'We had a month off not long ago and we literally didn't know what to do with ourselves, it was really strange.

'We messaged each other every day asking, 'what are you doing now?' 'what are you up to'?'

When Jonathan asked what the future might hold for the girls and that they might all want to take a break and have families in the future, Leigh-Anne said:

'It's really weird when you say that. When we have kids, that is just so strange, it will change us.

'We already said we're going to have kids at the same time and then we're going to form another Little Mix band.'

Jonathan asked, 'Like a Junior Mix?' and the girls agreed before Jade added: 'We'll be pushy mothers throwing them on a stage.'
