How Clarkson and Co blew £160million trying to mow down Top Gear: From Jeremy's £10million salary and £1,350 on bullets - to £36,000 making sure the fiery star always got a hot meal (and didn't punch another producer)
The way Jeremy Clarkson tells it, The Grand Tour, the new high-testosterone supercar show he’s hosting with Richard Hammond and James May, has all the ingredients that made Top Gear a world-wide success. ‘It is full of middle-aged men falling over with the occasional car sticking its nose into the frame,’ he says. For legal reasons, they are being careful not to actually copy any Top Gear features, but Clarkson says the constant will be Hammond and May, ‘whom I hate’.

But is that too much to live with day-in day-out? We spent a week behind the wheel to see if it's a step too far for family motoring.
You know those supercar giveaways at the airport you think nobody ever wins? Actually, they do... We meet the man behind it and some of the winners

RAY MASSEY takes a look at Volvo's new top-of-the-range S90 Excellence limousine - which has just three seats
It dispenses with the traditional front passenger seat, replacing it with a unit containing a high-tech pop-up touchscreen for work or leisure use, while creating more legroom for the VIP in the back. Volvo bosses say the vehicle is also a step towards the driverless car, which the company says will be on the road by 2021. The S90 is significant because by 2020 one in three of all Volvos will be built in China, rather than Europe.

Among ten E-Types included in the sale, pictured, was a barn-find 1964 3.8-litre Jaguar E-Type Coupe, centre, that sold for double its estimate.

Driving home an investment: Women are fuelling a classic car sales boom, says RAY MASSEY

Good riddance... or good investments? Britain's most common cars of the 70s and 80s are now some of the most endangered models on the road
They were the among the most-derided of their eras, but could now be a fantastic investment due to their rarity. Cars such as the Austin Metro, Morris Marina and Ford Sierra, that once dominated Britain's streets and driveways until relatively recently are now on the verge of extinction, according to classic car insurance specialist ClassicLine. The firm has now kickstarted a campaign to save a number of cars that were once responsible for transporting a nation, even if they were mocked by some users.
