'It's great his gene will live on!': Lewis Hamilton reveals his Bulldog Roscoe had its sperm frozen before having the snip

He takes his pet pooches Roscoe and Coco around the world with him while competing in Formula One.

And Lewis Hamilton, 31, told fans he had his bulldog Roscoe's sperm frozen before the dog was forced to have the snip.

Writing on the Instagram account he set up for his dogs, Lewis said: 'Roscoe in great spirits. Due to some complications, we had to have him snipped.

'However, since he's the best looking bulldog I decided to freeze his sperm so that in time to come I could have his pups. He is the best pedigree. Both mum and father were champion show dogs so it's great his gene will live on. #bestdogintheworld'

The words accompanied a picture of Roscoe lying in a pile of brown leaves with its tongue hanging out and a tennis ball just in front.

Fans of Lewis and Roscoe shared their support, with one commenting: 'Great idea. He's such a beautiful boy ❤️'

While another gushed: 'Thanks for sharing this info with us. I was wondering how he was doing.. Sad but nothing is more important than life, so I respect your decision. Always his health comes first. We are praying for him'

Other followers were relieved to find out Roscoe was ok, with one saying: 'ROSCOE!!!! Oh how I missed that mug!!!❤️

'I was wondering were he was of late,' said another. 'As u have been with Coco in pic. Glad all is well.'

And a third said: 'Naww poor Roscoe, so glad you froze his sperm.. he is a good looking bulldog Thanks @michellefield_ for the tag ❤️ I was worried about him, so glad he's ok xxx'

Meanwhile, Lewis edged out his team-mate and rival Nico Rosberg to complete a timely practice double over the German at the Brazilian Grand Prix on Friday.

Hamilton, who is 19 points behind Rosberg in the championship, knows that he must finish ahead of his Mercedes team-mate to take the title tussle to the final round of the season.

And the Briton, a back-to-back winner at the last two races in the United States and Mexico, got his weekend off to the ideal start by topping the order in both sessions at Interlagos.
