'He gave me a little back massage': Eddie Redmayne reveals Fantastic Beasts co-star Colin Farrell had to comfort him before 'intense' San Diego Comic-Con appearance

He's making his mark on the wizarding world as Newt Scamander in Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.

But even though he's won an Oscar and appeared in a number of critically-acclaimed movies, sometimes he needs reassurance from his castmates.

And Eddie recently revealed that it was Colin Farrell who helped him get through a rather 'intense' experience at San Diego Comic-Con.

Support: Eddie Redmayne reveals Colin Farrell once gave him a back massage at San Diego Comic-Con

'That was intense,' the British actor told The Daily Telegraph, 'The whole situation is created like you are meant to go on like a rock star.

'I remember feeling really nervous beforehand, waiting in the wings, and Colin Farrell was giving me a little back massage and going, "It's going to be fine, Eddie, it's going to be fine".'

While two seem more than friendly off-screen, the same can't be said for their on-screen characters.

Tough guy: Colin plays Percival Graves, the enigmatic Director of Magical Security at MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America)

Magic: Fantastic Beasts centres on Eddie's character Newt, a magizoologist

Fantastic Beasts centres on Eddie's character Newt, a magizoologist, who arrives in the American city at a time when growing tension between No-Maj (muggles) and wizards is at its highest.

Newt's No-Maj pal Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogle) accidentally lets loose some of the magical beasts residing in the wizard's deceptive leather suitcase, which leads to him teaming up with ex Auror Tina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston) to round them up.

However, things take an ominous turn when Colin's character Percival Graves, the enigmatic Director of Magical Security at MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), casts his suspicions on both Newt, and Tina, as a dark force threatens to push the wizarding and No-Maj worlds to the brink of war.

New parents: Eddie and wife Hannah welcomed their first child Iris this year

Eddie says he spent six months filming the first instalment of the brand new film franchise from JK Rowling, but now he's in full dad mode after he and wife Hannah Bagshawe welcomed daughter Iris earlier this year.

Talking of the ups and downs of parenting a newborn, Eddie said: 'When Iris was sleeping through the night for the first time you're like, 'This is extraordinary!', And the next it's absolutely not and you fell like you've been pummelled.'

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them is out in Australian cinemas on November 17th.
