Black University of Pennsylvania students added to 'n***** lynching' chat groups and called 'dumb slaves' by racist Trump fans

- Black students alerted officials and took to Facebook in fear for their lives
- The university abhorred the groups as 'repugnant, vile and deplorable'

Black University of Pennsylvania students were added to a chat groups describing 'n***** lynching' by racist Trump supporters on Friday.
The freshmen were all brought in to the GroupMe conversation unwittingly, added by anonymous Trump fans on their smartphones.
In the threads, racists used the N-word, made lynching threats and posted photographs of black inmates.
One was titled 'Trump love', another 'Mud Men' and ringleaders hid behind usernames including 'Daddy Trump'.

The terrified freshmen took to social media after alerting university officials to the hateful groups which were started in Oklahoma.
In one group, titled Mud Men, one member by the name of Ashlyn Ball created a 'daily lynching' event.
The chat group icon was a photograph of a black man in a prison jumpsuit.
In another titled 'Trump Love', one person called another a 'stupid n*****' while others referred to them as 'c**ns'.
University of Pennsylvania staff said they were 'appalled' by the messages and were working to find out who was behind them.
It is not clear how the group administrators gained access to the students' details to add them to the group.
'We are absolutely appalled that earlier today Black freshman students at Penn were added to a racist GroupMe account that appears to be based in Oklahoma.
'The account itself is totally repugnant: it contains violent, racist and thoroughly disgusting images and messages. This is simply deplorable.

Black students took to Twitter and Facebook to say they were 'petrified' after being added to the groups
'Our police and information security staff are trying to locate the exact source and to determine if any steps can be taken to block the account,' a statement released by President Amy Gutmann read.
The freshmen took to Facebook and Twitter to share their fears after being added to the groups.
'Quite honestly I just can't stop crying. I feel sick to my stomach. I don't feel safe.
'This is personal. To all my fellow black students, the Vice Provost office is open for you as a safe space,' said one.
'I am petrified and all I want to do is cry,' another said.
Trump graduated from The University of Pennsylvania in 1968. It is not clear whether the group administrators are students there.
His daughter Tiffany is also an alumnus.
