Becky Watts' killer Shauna Hoare has reportedly been so badly beaten in prison she has had to be resuscitated twice.

Hoare, 22, is currently serving 17 years for manslaughter in the all female Bronzefield prison, in Surrey.

Her boyfriend, Nathan Matthews, 28, was imprisoned for a minimum of 33 years for murdering his 16-year-old stepsister.

A close friend said she had become a target for other prisoners at the Category A jail, which is the largest female prison in Europe.

The friend told the Daily Mirror: 'Shauna has been so badly beaten up she has needed to be resuscitated twice. She says the best she can do is take it day by day.'

'She really has to watch her back from what she tells me and just does everything she can to avoid dangerous inmates. Shauna is having a terrible time.

'There's little remorse. It's all about her. She's only mentioned Becky once really, describing the moment Nathan came downstairs after killing her. She said Nathan acted as if nothing had happened.

'Shauna is still adamant she knew nothing about the murder.'

Other inmates at Bronzefield include Joanna Dennehy, the 'Peterborough ditch murderer' and Roshonara Choudhry, who stabbed MP Stephen Timms during a constituency surgery.

In July, lag Natasha Chin, 41, was found dead in her cell at the jail.

Bronzefield is the only purpose-built private prison solely for women in the UK, and is the largest female prison in Europe

Becky, 16, was killed after going missing from her Bristol home in February 2015.

The youngster was suffocated and her body was then chopped into pieces and discovered in a garden shed 11 days later.

Becky suffered more than 40 injuries before being suffocated by Matthews.

During their trial, Bristol Crown Court heard they targeted Becky due to their dislike of her and a shared sexual interest in petite teenage girls.

Matthews was jailed for life for murder with a minimum of 33 years while Hoare was convicted of manslaughter and jailed for 17 years.

In June they both had an appeal against their sentences and convictions thrown out of court.
