Saturday Night Live has opened in sombre fashion, with Kate McKinnon's Hillary Clinton character performing Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah to start the show. McKinnon wore one of Clinton's trademark white pantsuits as she played the late-Cohen's iconic song on piano in-front of the studio audience. The Emmy-winner appeared to get emotional during some of the more poignant moments in the song, many that could be related to Clinton's election defeat at the hands of Donald Trump this week. Alec Baldwin's Donald Trump character did not make an appearance during the opening segment. However, after reaching the end of the song, McKinnon closed with a positive message. 'I'm not giving up, and neither should you,' McKinnon said, before kicking the show over to comedian Dave Chappelle for his opening monologue.

Film-maker Michael Moore has called on Donald Trump to step down as President-elect before he even takes office, before joining thousands of protesters in the streets of Manhattan. After making his way into the Donald's Central Park skyscraper, Moore attempted to get to Trump's office (right). However, he was stopped from going to Trump's office, and then let the building to join protesters outside (left). Moore also tweeted about the incident, demanding Trump step aside (inset).

Iconic comedian David Chappelle has delivered a scathing monologue in his return to television, but closed it by saying he is willing to give Donald Trump a chance. 'You know, I didn't know Donald Trump was going to win... I did suspect it,' Chappelle said to start his lengthy segment. 'I know the whites, you guys aren't as full of surprises as you used to be. But America's done it, we've finally elected an internet troll as President.' Chappelle then moved his monologue back to Trump's election win. 'I'm wishing Donald Trump luck. And I'm going to give him a chance. And we, the historically disenfranchised, demand that he give us one too,' he said.

She's set to become America's First Lady, with a life cossetted in the extravagant luxury afforded only to the super-rich. And although Melania Trump's existence today (left) as the wife of a billionaire is far removed from her childhood (inset) in a communist state, it is the fulfilment of the dreams that she nurtured living in her own white house as a 16-year-old. Now The Mail on Sunday has gone back to the young Melania's home town, spoken to some of her school friends - and tracked down that white house built by her father (top right).

The president-elect made the controversial pledge to build a wall along the entire length of the US-Mexico border (left) during his campaign. There's anger about it in the border towns of Laredo, Texas and Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. 'If he comes here we will shoot him,' said one Mexican. Nobody we spoke to thought a wall would make a real difference when it comes to illegal migrants (right) risking life and limb to reach the United States.

Donald Trump Jr's wedding anniversary celebration is probably not going down in the history books as the most romantic. Trump and his wife, Vanessa, celebrated their 11-year wedding anniversary watching UFC fights at Madison Square Garden. He posted a picture of the couple (right) to his Instagram with the caption: '11 years and 5 little monsters down and still going strong. Happy anniversary Vanessa, I love you. #anniversary.' Later Saturday night, Trump posted a photo of his UFC ticket (inset). The headliner for Saturday's fight was Ireland's Conor McGregor, who is vying to become the first UFC fighter to simultaneously wear two championship belts. McGregor, who is the featherweight champion, will meet Philadelphia's lightweight champion, Eddie Alvarez. Another huge fight of the night was between Miesha Tate (left) and Raquel Pennington.

Meghan Markle's attitudes to relationships, the death threats she's received, and some of the dubious TV jobs she's taken can be revealed - thanks to a wide-ranging conversation she had with Mail on Sunday columnist Piers Morgan over a dirty martini in a London pub. Piers met the American actress in London in June, months before the world learned about her Royal relationship. She hinted about a 'persistent' man in her life - and the very next night, she was seen with Prince Harry at fashionable members' club Soho House.

It's not often people get the chance to help out a legendary rock star like Bruce Springsteen. But a few veterans got that chance on Friday when they spotted Springsteen on his broken down motorcycle on the side of the road in Freehold, New Jersey. A group from the Freehold American Legion was riding after a Veterans Day event when Dan Barkalow (left with Springsteen) says he saw a stranded motorcyclist up ahead near Allaire State Park in Wall Township. Barkalow says they tried to help get his bike running, but when they couldn't, Springsteen - wearing a brown riding jacket and a red handkerchief - hopped on the back of Ryan Bailey's bike and they headed to a local bar.

Todd Kohlhepp (left and right) is said to have exhibited a wealth of strange behavior that sent shivers down the spines of those who knew the now-confessed serial killed. His strange acts included watching pornographic videos during work, making macabre jokes in marketing literature and openly discussing that he was a sex offender. But, despite the creepy behavior, he was an award-winning agent described as a hard worker and good boss. All the while, authorities say, he was hiding a grisly secret that included seven killings over 13 years. He gunned down four people at a motorcycle shop in 2003 and within the last year killed three more, authorities said. The crimes were uncovered earlier this month when investigators found Kala Brown (inset, left) - who had been missing for two months - was found 'chained like a dog' inside a shipping container on his rural land. Police are said to have rescued her after hearing a banging sound when they arrived at Kohlhepp's property with a search warrant. The body of her boyfriend Charlie Carver (inset, right), 32, was also found at the property.

A video shows members of the United States Marines Corps as they are pepper sprayed and tased for non-lethal weapons training purposes. Marines stand in the footage and are hit with the substance. Marines can be seen red-faced and distraught in reaction to the spray. The footage also shows some Marines washing out their eyes with water hoses. Other parts of the video shows Marines being tased as they are restrained. Several people tased proceed to make noises in reaction.

The Queen (pictured left) and other members of the Royal Family have arrived at the Royal Albert Hall for the annual Royal Festival of Remembrance. This year the event will mark the centenaries of the Battle of the Somme and the Battle of Jutland, the 25th anniversary of the Gulf War and the and the 80th anniversary of the first flight of the Supermarine Spitfire. Other royals attending the service on Saturday include the Duke of Edinburgh (left, with the Queen), the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall (right) and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (middle).

An adorable video of dogs leaping through tall grass is making the rounds online as half a dozen pooches prance like antelopes. The 40-second clip posted to YouTube on Wednesday shows the excited pups being let loose in a field of tall green grass. The dogs of all different breeds and sizes dart off into the field without a care in the world.As they leap through the grass, they seem to be swimming like dolphin in water. Each dog pops up as it leaps through the grass and then disappears as it land again. The woman filming the dogs laughs as the goofy pups leap through the field.

Trident Lakes is a $300million development in the small city of Ector, Texas, (top right) where investors are plotting to create the subterranean world over 700 acres of land. The complex will be signposted above ground by a massive fountain with a statue of Poseidon towering 50ft above it. Developers believe they have tapped into a gap in the market for wealthy Texans who are eager to prepare for the worst. 'The initial perception is that it's defined as a doomsday scenario. 'I'm trying to change the perception to a long-term sustainable community, with the concept of a 200-year community.

Paris' Bataclan concert hall turned away two members of Eagles of Death Metal who were playing during the ISIS attack at the venue last year. They tried to enter the venue for Sting's gig as the hall reopened to mark the anniversary of the massacre which killed 90 innocent music fans. But director Jules Frutos refused to let them in after frontman Jesse Hughes earlier this year suggested that Muslim staff were involved in the gun and suicide bomb attack on November 13, 2015.

The woman, believed to be from the US, filmed herself striking a series of poses to display her muscly figure - including her washboard abs. However, some social media users suggested that it was 'dangerous' for her to sculpt her body in this way. One person described it as 'a step too far', while another suggested it was 'bad for her body'.

Devastating CCTV footage from China shows a grandmother accidentally dropping her four-month-old grandson 30ft down the side of an escalator to its death after she lost her footing and let go of him. The baby boy was reportedly rushed to hospital but died in the early hours of this morning.

Emmanuel Shahid Avraham, from Westside Hills in Georgia, US, was filmed leading his blindfolded wife outside their home to show her the new Jaguar. His wife Connie can be heard laughing hysterically as he carries her down the steps. She breaks down in tears when he takes off her blindfold and she sees her new set of wheels.

A couple of Australian man have come up with an unusual, but dangerous, way of opening a beer bottle. The video posted on Hoonbag shows a man, believed to be in his 20s, crouching down holding an unopened beer. In slow motion, a motorbike rolls into the screen and the man slows down and performs a 'stoppie'.

This year's Christmas tree made a spectacular arrival in Rockefeller Center Saturday morning. A couple of hundred adults and children braved the chilly, 40-degree fall weather and watched workers hoist down the 94-foot tree using a crane. The Norway spruce (pictured, main, in its spot and upper left being positioned) was cut down Thursday in upstate Oneonta and arrived to New York City after a 140-mile truck trip. It originally was in the backyard of Angie and Graig Eichler, who watched as the tree was raised upright again Saturday. The tree's 50,000 lights will be switched on during a November 30 ceremony. The tree will remain lit until January 7 (last year's tree is pictured top right).

Food stylist, Adeline Waugh, from Miami, is the brains behind 'unicorn toast' (pictured) - a brightly-coloured breakfast trend made from bread, cream cheese and natural ingredients on toast such as turmeric root, blueberry powder and beetroot juice. The trend is currently sweeping Instagram and gaining thousands of fans.
