If you wannabe my mother: Ex-Spice Girl Victoria Beckham 'wants manage her son Cruz's pop career'

Her chart-topping girlband the Spice Girls famously sacked their own manager to go it alone in 2001.

And now it's been claimed that Victoria Beckham wants to oversee her son Cruz's pop career by becoming his manager.

An insider told Closer magazine, the former Spice Girls singer is keen to ensure 11-year-old Cruz Beckham thinks her own experiences make her the perfect candidate, though husband David is worried she is already too busy with her fashion empire.

Working together? Victoria Beckham is thought to be keen to manage her son Cruz's pop career

A source said: 'Victoria is adamant she needs to be Cruz's manager and says it's a no brainer given she has the vital experience from being in the industry for so long and knowing the mechanics of how it works.

'David thinks it is too much and doesn't know how she'll have the time to give Cruz the attention he needs. But she insists she'll do whatever it takes and make sacrifices if need be to ensure she's there to guide him.'

A representative for Victoria Beckham has been contacted by MailOnline for comment.

Singing superstar: Cruz has already shown that he has an interest in music, like his mother

Instead, the retired football star - who also has Brooklyn, 17, Romeo, 14, and Harper, five, with Victoria - thinks Justin Bieber's manager Scooter Braun would be the ideal person to help Cruz achieve musical success.

The source added to Closer magazine: 'Victoria is upset David won't back her on this and it's causing tension with neither of them wanting to back down. Like any parents, they both want the best when it comes to their children.'

X Factor boss Simon Cowell has previously expressed an interest in signing Cruz to his Syco label after seeing his online performance videos.

At loggerheads? David and Victoria are thought to disagree on the idea, with him saying she's already to busy

Meanwhile, dad David aroused suspicion that Cruz was recording his own music at the end of last month.

The football legend shared a cute Instagram snap of his 11-year-old singing into a microphone at producer Rodney Jerkins' studio on Saturday.

He simply captioned the photo '@rodneyjerkins', leaving it unclear as to whether or not Cruz was being recorded.

Jerkins has produced songs and albums for superstars such as Bieber, Jennifer Lopez and the Spice Girls, selling more than 160 million records worldwide.

Earlier this year Victoria shared an adorable Instagram video of the 11-year-old singing Twista and Faith Evans' song Hopeful.

Keeping in tune to the R&B song flawlessly, it's clear the youngster has a talent, and fans of the Beckhams have gone wild for him on social media.

Star in the making: Cruz is known to have good voice and even Simon Cowell once said: 'Get him in and we'll sign him!'

Many remarked that Victoria and David's son Cruz is the new Bieber, and he certainly had an air of the Canadian superstar about him with his dulcet a cappella tones, swaying movements and brushed aside fringe.

While his mother's career as a pop star petered out in the early Noughties after the Spice Girls disbanded and her solo stint was short-lived, perhaps Cruz is aspiring to work in the music industry.

With his brothers Brooklyn, 17, and Romeo, 14, already carving out careers at young ages - Brooklyn has dabbled in modelling and is a keen photographer, while Romeo is a Burberry model - Cruz has tended to stay out of the limelight.
