Steven Gerrard has again fanned the flames surrounding the speculation that he is to leave LA Galaxy.

The former Liverpool midfielder posted a picture on Instagram with the Los Angeles city lights in the background as he posed with an Oakland Raiders can in hand.

He added the caption: 'Special place, incredible view, I will miss you LA', which heavily implies that his exit is imminent from the Californian city.

Gerrard has previously suggested he would leave the American club but never explicitly explained himself.

In a previous Instagram message he said: 'Living in Los Angeles and playing for the great Galaxy supporters has been a privilege.

'You have made this place feel like home to me. This city and this club will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you.'

In the wake of that message, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp publicly announced that Gerrard would be welcome back at the Merseyside Club.

At a post-match press conference Klopp had said: 'Steven Gerrard is always so welcome at Liverpool FC.

'You cannot imagine how welcome. So, absolutely no problem. But everything that we have already or will speak to each other stays in this talk.

Steven Gerrard may have played his final game for LA Galaxy as they were knocked out

Jurgen Klopp said that the Liverpool legend is always welcome back at the club

'That is how I know Stevie and that is how I am. But nobody should worry that we have no space for Steven Gerrard. No - everything will be fine, 100 per cent.'

Whether the iconic midfield general hangs up his boots remains to be seen.

That said, it appears increasingly likely that his days are numbered in the Golden State, putting Liverpool fans on red alert.
