Like last week's opening show, Planet Earth II left Sir David Attenborough looking not so much the saint we'd always thought he was but a heartless sadist. Not a TV God or English gent, but well a total bastard intent on making us all suffer. Certainly so far it has been torture with the great man preying on viewers' nerves as ruthlessly as the predators he was showing us. Episode one of the follow-up to his 2006 series had been the stuff of nightmares. Attenborough had celebrated its return by horrifying the entire nation with the revelation - and the illustration - of one species of snakes hunted in packs. The sight of aptly named Racer Snakes pursuing hatchling lizards like low-flying fighter jets (very low) was a nerve-shredding, surreal, scene we'd imagined could only happen in a Hollywood blockbuster (Iguana Jones & The Temple Of Doom). Not satiated Attenborough had added heart-breaking, frankly gratuitous, footage of a female tern trying to hatch her single (shattered) egg and paternal penguins battling to feed their chicks (and being bloodily dashed against the rocks). Life was tough. For us that is, never mind the penguins.

We present ten of Britain's super-wealthy women

Women in the UK earn an average of just £350 per week, or around £50 for each of the 365 days of the year. But just how much do the women at the top of the tree really make in a day? To reveal what some of the highest female earners in Britain are paid, we estimated their annual earnings, then divided that figure by 365 to come up with their daily wage. Of course, top earners put a premium on discretion, and our figures, drawn from company documents and other public sources, may be the tip of the iceberg. So who are the super-wealthy women - and what do they choose to spend their millions on?

The student left as 'helpless as a newborn baby' after meningitis wiped her memory: Lucy

When Lucy Scott (centre in right image with her mother and sister), 18, from Glasgow, was brought out of her coma, a cruel side effect of her meningitis had caused her whole life to be wiped from her memory. She couldn't remember who she was or recognise any of her family or friends. A brain scan revealed scar tissue on the organ, which had caused her to forget her entire life and left her as 'helpless as a newborn baby'. Miss Scott (left with her mother) has spent the past two years learning how to walk, talk, read, write and do everyday tasks she first learned as a child.

Operation Save The King... or how three real-life surgeons recreated the incredible day

On the morning of Sunday, September 23, 1951, surgeons battled to save the Queen's father, George VI, from lung cancer. The scene was recreated in in The Crown, the much-hyped Netflix TV series. Birmingham great-grandmothers face a council fine for sweeping up leaves

Having recently battled cancer and enduring a hip replacement operation earlier this year, Margaret Baker could do without the hassle of bagging up leaves from a line of trees on a verge opposite her home. Together with next-door neighbour Ann Fowler, 76, Mrs Baker has already swept up 50 bags worth of leaves this autumn in order to make access to their cul-de-sac homes safe for the predominantly elderly residents. But their efforts have been rewarded with the threat of a fine by council jobsworths - who warned the bin bags full of leaves they left at the kerbside for collection amounted to fly-tipping. Yesterday the two women condemned Birmingham City Council for failing to sweep up the leaves, which they said have fallen from trees on council land, as 71-year-old Mrs Baker told how the authority dismissed the leaf-fall as an 'act of God'.

Former warehouse worker Neil, 50, chops cabbages with a carving knife on 24-year-old Eve's stomach - and even smashes concrete blocks while she lies on a bed of nails. Daughter Eve quit her degree when she realised she'd rather be risking life and limb at the hands of her former circus star dad than studying law - and persuaded Neil to leave his day job too and create a father-daughter act. The only limit the pair, from Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, have, is that every trick has to be run past terrified mother Deborah, before she lets them perform it.

During the relationship she claims she bought him a £150,000 Mercedes and gave him £2.12m to invest in two new restaurants. But she now says Mr Riemenschneider (shown right) is a 'liar' and a gold-digger who 'used the restaurants as a front' to obtain her millions.
