Female anti-bullying ambassador, 23, arrested at Trump Tower protest for pushing man, 74, to the ground in fight over the new President-elect

A female anti-bullying ambassador and gospel singer was arrested on Thursday night for pushing an elderly man to the ground in a fight outside Trump Tower in Manhattan. 

Shacara McLaurin, 23, from Brooklyn, New York,  joined angry protesters outside the President-elect's New York City home in the second night of uproar since his election win. 

The Black Lives Matter protester was arrested at 10.45pm for shoving the man, 74, to the ground, causing him to hit the back of his head on the sidewalk. 

McLaurin, who previously made headlines for being the victim of a brutal beating herself in 2011, was arrested for felony assault and faced court on Friday. 

She grinned her way through proceedings before being released without bail, claiming she was provoked when the man, who may have been drunk, called her a 'n*****'.

McLaurin, 23, was taken into custody for pushing the man. She was later charged with felony assault 

Her lawyer told Judge Geoffrey Wright at New York's Criminal Court how McLaurin and her friends were peacefully protesting when the man approached her. 

A source told DailyMail.com how she said the man was drunk and 'falling around' her, using racial slurs and harassing her. 

McLaurin's lawyer said she warned him she would 'f*** him up' if he didn't relent but that he continued. 

She pushed him and he fell over, bashing the back of his head against the ground which caused him to be dizzy and suffer a 'substantial' amount of pain, police said.  

She was the only person arrested outside Trump Tower on Thursday night. Dozens were taken into custody on Wednesday.

Her lawyer told the court how the man, who she said was drunk, used the N-word 

The 23-year-old's attorney said she was a good citizen and the last person likely to become violent 

'We had a 74-year-old man and 23-year-old female engaged in a dispute. That dispute turned physical when the female pushes the man to the ground. 

'The victim suffered substantial pain and dizziness,' an NYPD spokesman said on Friday. 

McLaurin's friends, some of whom supported her at court on Friday, say she was defending herself when the man aggressively approached her and a friend.

'The old man was harassing them and screaming about Trump. He got too close and she pushed him. 

'The man fell. The police didn't take statements from the black witnesses until we forced them,' said one who filmed her arrest. 

McLaurin's friends and family, and fellow Black Lives Matter protesters, supported her at court. She was released without bail and must return in January 

McLaurin's relatives told DailyMail.com earlier in the day how she intended to address the matter after being released from jail where she spent the night 

McLaurin became an anti-bullying campaigner after being attacked by classmates when she was in high school (right) in 2011 

McLaurin faces two assault charges; one felony, given the man's age, and a misdemeanor. 

She will return to court in January for an arraignment hearing.  The woman refused to comment when contacted by DailyMail.com after being released from police custody.

She is the face of Stomp Out Bullying, joining the initiative after being the victim of a beating herself in 2011. 

McLaurin claimed at the time she was attacked by classmates at her Brooklyn school who were trying to keep her out of the school talent show. 

A keen singer, she had auditioned for American Idol at the time. Five teenagers from her school were charged over the attack.   

McLaurin was the only person arrested at the Trump Tower protest on Thursday night
