A homeless and pregnant heroin addict collapsed into the arms of her partner after admitting that she would rather feed her addiction than her baby on a harrowing episode of Dr. Phil that aired on Thursday.

Former 'smart and motivated' student Niki, 25, has a $450 (£360) a-day drug habit after becoming hooked on heroin seven years ago - and has now turned to prostitution to feed her addiction.

The expectant mother, who lives in Florida, could even be seen shooting up while eight months pregnant on the program.

'All the money I make goes straight back on drugs. I would rather feed my drug habit than my unborn child,' said Niki in the video.

Niki's revelation that she would rather score money for drugs and get high on heroin than worry about her unborn baby shocks her family

Niki, who dropped out of Wake Forrest University as a freshman, has been using heroin for seven years since she tried it for the first time in her first year at college

Niki's boyfriend Jessey, who first started using heroin when he met her, cradles her as she lies unconscious high on heroin. He pleads with Dr Phil for help with Niki

Niki and her fiance Jessey, who have no home and live in a van, were confronted by her mother and sister on Dr. Phil, with both women worried that she will be dead by Christmas.

The family members also became distraught during the program when they learned that Niki had been selling her body for three years to fund her addiction.

Niki explained to Dr. Phil that clients contact her every day and she visits their homes to make money. She also said that these individuals are aware that she is pregnant.

Her partner Jessey, who only started using heroin when he met Niki, is sure that the baby is his as she has reassured him that she always uses protection with her clients.

But she reveals there is a possibility that it might not be.

'There is about a ninety percent chance that the baby is Jessey's,' she says, 'But unfortunately there is a chance that it could be my client's.'

Footage of an unconscious Niki being held up by Jessey, is also shown to her mother and sister who fume: 'I’m so mad. How can she do this to a baby?'

Jessey explains in the footage: 'Right now she is really high. She’s going to be OK. When she starts getting bad is when her lips get blue-ish, darker.'

He then pleads: 'Like four or five times she’s OD’d and I’m scared we’re going to lose her or lose the baby. That’s why we need you, Dr Phil, to help us.'

Her boyfriend only began using heroin six months ago when he first met his girlfriend.

'It was my choice and I could have said no, but it was also my fault that I started doing it.

'I still feel like better off with Niki, because if I wasn't with her. I don't know what I would be doing.'

He explained that his goal was to stop Niki doing heroin but the 'script was flipped' when he became addicted.

'I hope that when I started she would maybe feel bad and stop doing it.'

Niki has reassured her partner that he is the father of her baby but she reveals there is a ten percent chance that the father could be one of her clients

Niki's family are distraught at the state of Niki's life and are desperate for Dr Phil to give her the help she needs before she ends up dead

The soon-to-be mum wanted to detox and says her main aim is to 'get clean and get healthy so I can take care of the baby'.

She adds: 'I think if I was able to clean my mum would want to help out, I think my mum would want to take the baby.

Niki's sister Samantha doesn't hold back as she tells her: 'I hate you, I hate your guts.

Dr Phil is keen to help the couple get their lives back on track with the help of her family.

The conclusion of Niki's story will air on Friday.
